We are currently looking for a buyer to purchase the goods and services required by the company. Reporting to the Procurement Manager, the incumbent will work in close collaboration with stakeholders from various sectors of the company. The buyer plays an important role at Rheinmetall Canada and we are looking for someone who is proactive, enjoys working on varied projects and in a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities
- Determine the best procurement strategy to meet project and internal client needs while respecting budgets and schedules.
- Identify new sources of supply, participate in supplier qualification and performance evaluation.
- Prepare and send requests for quotation, analyze proposals, prepare comparative tables and purchasing recommendations based on the objectives and requirements of each project.
- Prepare purchase orders, identify 2D and 3D drawing revisions (when applicable), and communicate commercial part numbers and alternative parts.
- Coordinate deviation requests with engineering and the supplier, and take the necessary steps to document everything.
- Negotiate the best possible conditions and manage the supplier relationship and non-conformance or non-performance issues.
- Actively participate in project reviews, ensure the exchange of information and good collaboration with various stakeholders.
- Represent the company in the context of projects or during visits to local or foreign suppliers (occasional).
The qualifications we are looking for:
- Hold a DEC, or equivalent, in a relevant field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a purchasing position with knowledge in mechanics and/or electronics.
- Be comfortable with negotiation and know best purchasing and logistics practices.
- Master French and English (oral and written)*.
- Master Microsoft Office suite software, particularly Excel, as well as the SAP software.
- Be autonomous, rigorous, dynamic and have the necessary flexibility to quickly adapt to priorities and changes.
- Possess an excellent sense of ethics and responsibility.
- Available to travel occasionally.
