We are currently looking for a purchaser to handle the procurement of goods and services required by the company. Reporting to the Procurement Manager, the incumbent will work in close collaboration with stakeholders from various sectors of the company. The purchaser plays an important role at Rheinmetall Canada, and we are looking for someone who is proactive, enjoys working on varied projects, and thrives in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

• Determine the best procurement strategy to meet project and internal customer needs while respecting budgets and schedules.
• Identify new sources of supply, participate in supplier qualification and performance evaluation.
• Prepare and send requests for quotation, analyze proposals, prepare comparison tables, and make purchasing recommendations based on the objectives and imperatives of each project.
• Prepare purchase orders, identify 2D and 3D drawing revisions (where applicable), and communicate commercial part numbers and alternative parts.
• Coordinate deviation requests with engineering and the supplier, and take necessary steps to document everything.
• Negotiate the best possible conditions and manage supplier relations as well as non-conformance or non-performance issues.
• Actively participate in project reviews, ensure information exchange and good collaboration with various stakeholders.
• Represent the company in projects or during visits to local or foreign suppliers (occasional).

The qualifications we are looking for:

• Hold a DEC, or equivalent, in a relevant field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a purchasing position with knowledge in mechanics and/or electronics.
• Comfortable with negotiation and knowledgeable about best purchasing and logistics practices.
• Proficient in French and English (oral and written)*.
• Mastery of Microsoft Office suite software, particularly Excel, as well as the SAP® software package.
• Autonomous, rigorous, dynamic, and possessing the flexibility necessary to quickly adapt to priorities and changes.
• Excellent sense of ethics and responsibility.
• Available to travel occasionally.
