Location: Montreal, Quebec

Compensation: The starting salary range for this position is $29.27 to $32.72 per hour, commensurate with skills, experience, and qualifications. With internal training, time, and career progression, hourly compensation may increase to a maximum of $39.07. This position is also eligible for overtime.

Job overview

The Purchasing Agent plays a key role in supporting the organization's supply chain and operational efficiency. This position is responsible for coordinating purchase order activities, managing follow-ups with suppliers, and ensuring the smooth flow of materials across the procurement cycle. Working closely with cross-functional stakeholders, the role contributes to timely material availability, quality standards, and continuous improvement of procurement processes.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively manage purchase orders for materials and services, ensuring full compliance with corporate policies and procurement procedures.
  • Support sourcing activities by assisting with request-for-quotation (RFQ) processes, bid analysis, and the preparation of purchase, repair, and compliance documentation.
  • Contribute to the development and optimization of supplier relationships and sourcing strategies, under the guidance of the Supervisor or delegate.
  • Ensure accurate and timely updates in the ERP system, including supplier data such as quotations, pricing, delivery schedules, and related information.
  • Act as a key point of contact between procurement and cross-functional teams, including kitting/integration, production, engineering, and finance to support end-to-end supply chain needs.
  • Oversee day-to-day supplier quality matters, including return processing, invoice discrepancies, and monitoring vendor performance.

Qualifications

  • DEP or DEC from an accredited institution.
  • Proven experience in supply chain, purchasing, or material management, including kitting, Kanban systems, shortage management, and logistics operations (parts issuance, returns, quality evaluations, etc.).
  • Bilingual proficiency required (French and English).
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, with the ability to analyze data, manage reports, and act on multiple datasets.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and respond to requests from various departments.
  • Demonstrated capability to perform all job-related functions as outlined in Appendix A of the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
  • Eligibility for progression to Administrative Production based on business needs, as defined in Appendix A of the CBA and an approved requisition.
