Job overview

This position is based in Montreal, QC and will be part of the FTAI Aviation Canada accounting team.

This hands-on role will broadly encompass financial accounting and management reporting for the Canadian entity. The Assistant Controller will contribute to enforcing accounting policies and internal controls, while partnering closely with operations and finance leadership in Canada and the broader organization.

The Assistant Controller will play a key role in streamlining reporting and analysis processes, supporting month-end close activities, coordinating with external auditors, and providing financial insights to support operational and strategic decision-making as the company continues to grow.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of financial analysts supporting accounts payable and inventory functions
  • Support month-end and quarter-end close processes
  • Work directly with auditors to support quarterly and annual financial statements and prepare subsidiary stand-alone financial statements
  • Identify, evaluate and communicate all audit findings for both internal controls over financial reporting and operational controls
  • Document, maintain, and enforce accounting policies and procedures
  • Leverage internal financial systems to streamline reporting and analysis processes
  • Identify opportunities to enhance financial systems, models and tools for better efficiency and accuracy including process improvements, systems upgrades, and controls implementation
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and company policies related to financial reporting and cost accounting
  • Collaborate with operations and supply chain teams to ensure accurate cost allocations and inventory valuations

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting; CPA is preferred
  • 5–7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including Big 4 public accounting experience
  • Proven experience in a close and reporting environment with general ledger responsibilities
  • Experience in the MRO, aerospace or manufacturing industries preferred
  • High technical proficiency with MS Excel
  • Strong multi-tasking skills
  • Experience with Quantum ERP preferred but not required
  • Ability to grasp big-picture concepts while remaining detail-oriented
  • Capable of producing accurate and timely work in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
