Baggage Handler (Station Attendant) - Airport - Part-time

Location: Ottawa, ON, Canada (on-site)

Starting salary: $23.36/hour - Up to $38.15 after 8 years of continuous service, as provided in the applicable collective agreement.

Shift premiums: Evening shift – $1.00 per hour worked between 6:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. Night shift – $1.50 per hour worked between 11:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.

What will you do today?

Working within a dynamic team, you will collaborate with other team members to ensure aircraft are loaded and unloaded efficiently, ensuring flight safety and on-time performance. You may be asked to perform duties associated with baggage, connecting passenger bags, or working on the tarmac to execute the numerous tasks required for successful operations.

Job requirements

In our work environment, teamwork is essential to ensure the smooth operation of our fleet. This is physically demanding work that involves staying in motion on the tarmac and in the baggage room. Because our operations run year-round, you must be prepared to work in all weather conditions.

To join us, you must:

• Hold a valid driver's license – you will be required to drive heavy equipment on the tarmac;
• Be able to repeatedly lift 32 kg (70 lbs) loads;
• Pass a medical evaluation, including a drug and alcohol screening test;
• Be available to attend and successfully complete a paid full-time five-to-seven-week training program;
• Be available to work rotating shifts over a 24-hour period (including weekends and holidays);
• Pay attention to safety and security;
• Demonstrate strong communication skills and the ability to work within a team, every day;
• Show punctuality and reliability to support the overall success of the team in a fast-paced environment;
• Be able to obtain and maintain any applicable transportation security clearance and additional authorizations (please consult the Transport Canada website for more details);
• Candidates must be authorized to work in the country concerned at the time the job offer is made. The search for any work permits/visas or other necessary authorizations is the sole responsibility of the candidates for this position.
