This position provides support to cargo operations and handles all cargo office requirements in Australia, as listed below.

Responsibilities :

  • Manage the station ULD inventories and liaise with Cargo Network Control YYZ and Ground Handling Agents (GHA) to ensure sufficient equipment availability to support cargo operations.
  • Implement the load plan and coordinate with warehouse and ramp teams to ensure optimal use of available space and weight for each flight.
  • Monitor data entries made by the GHA and ensure they are done in a timely manner.
  • Verify shipping / ULD data in freight management and load control systems.
  • Ensure that GHA activities always comply with Air Canada's safety policy and standard operating procedures (SOP).
  • Maintain good relations with interline carriers to ensure smooth freight transfers in transit.
  • Track Cargo iQ indicators and implement corrective actions to improve scores.
  • Support and supervise GHAs in load planning and data entry in weight and balance systems.
  • Monitor and coordinate ramp activities.
  • Respond to customer inquiries regarding imports and exports, as well as inquiries from other stations regarding freight entering and leaving Australia.
  • Manage irregularities and operational disruptions.
  • Maintain and organize the replenishment of office forms, labels, office supplies and other administrative support materials.
  • Supervise the building of ULDs for sensitive goods (VAL, HUM, AVI, etc.) to prevent theft and damage incidents when goods are in the cargo terminal facilities.
  • Track the list of uncustomed Air Waybills (AWBs) and coordinate with the GHA and overseas offices for their closure.
  • Be able to work on the ramp to supervise loading operations.
  • Be able to work on a rotating schedule.
  • Coordinate with GHA and sales teams on ULD building to maximize space and weight utilization.
  • Ensure cargo safety and security by verifying that all documentation for each shipment complies with Air Canada standards and procedures.
  • Coordinate with all stakeholders, including the GHA, and take necessary actions (such as cargo rebooking) in the event of an aircraft grounding for maintenance.
  • Meet GHA representatives at their level to establish and maintain good relations.
  • Participate in regular meetings with GHAs to discuss any issues.
  • Perform any other related task or responsibility assigned by the manager.

Qualifications

  • Higher education degree or diploma in the field of freight forwarding or airline companies, an asset.
  • Experience in sales or cargo service (6 to 24 months).
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience.

Employment conditions :

Candidates must be eligible to work in the country concerned at the time a job offer is presented and are responsible for obtaining the necessary work permits, visas or other authorizations. Proof of eligibility must be provided before the start date.

Language Requirements

Fluency in English, both oral and written; knowledge of other languages, an asset.
