Agent - Freight Operations

The successful candidate is responsible for processing processes and procedures related to import and export freight operational data, including liaison with Air Canada Cargo Customer Service, head office based services, warehouse staff and external third parties. They are also responsible for verifying compliance with service level agreements for Air Canada customers, for both inbound and outbound freight.

Responsibilities:

• Accept, assign and process all aspects of freight, for incoming and outgoing flights.
• Process dangerous goods, valuable goods, live animals and perishable goods, for incoming and outgoing flights.
• Process all relevant documents for incoming and outgoing flights, including common veterinary entry documents (CVED) for perishable cargo.
• Answer questions from customers, warehouse staff, Toronto loading service, His Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC), etc., as needed.
• Verify squaring and storage, and process anomaly reports.
• Process freight that does not meet customs requirements, verify shipment weight and missing freight, as needed.
• Ensure that inbound and outbound freight processing complies with the service level agreed with Customer Service.
• Liaise with transport companies for booking and transport of freight destined for the United Kingdom and the European Union.
• Liaise with Customer Service to determine activities based on allocated space for priority freight and bookings related to this type of freight.
• Assist the Freight Receiving Agent, if necessary.
• Keep their UK airport authority airside pass up to date, as required.
• Ensure compliance with Air Canada University online training.

Qualifications

• Experience in the air freight industry, an asset
• Experience with WebLynx, SmartLOAD, Airport Bureau Systems (ABS) and the Transport Facilities website, an asset
• DfT (Department for Transport) safety training

Employment conditions:

Candidates must be eligible to work in the country concerned at the time an employment offer is made and are responsible for obtaining the necessary work permits, visas or other authorizations. Proof of eligibility must be provided before the start date.

Language Requirements

Good oral and written skills accompanied by a high degree of accuracy in English.
