Job Offer: Industrial Design Technician - Floor Plans

Location: Drummondville (QC)
Duration: 6-month contract
Schedule: Day shift, Monday to Friday

About the Position

The incumbent is responsible for designing floor plans and updating related procedures in accordance with evolving standards, design modifications, the integration of new components, and weight variations related to chassis and products.

They also contribute to developing solutions when discrepancies are identified between client needs and possible configurations within prescribed limits. In case of disputes regarding the application of standards, they refer to engineering representatives, who are solely authorized to approve the final floor plan.

Main Responsibilities

  • Design floor plans in accordance with submissions and orders based on established priorities
  • Respect applicable standards, weight limits, and manufacturing constraints
  • Produce floor plans for engineering department testing
  • Validate requests with relevant internal departments
  • Analyze observed manufacturing interferences and propose permanent solutions
  • Collaborate with internal teams during disputes related to floor plan standards and limits
  • Keep files and procedures updated based on the following sources:
    • Engineering logbook
    • New standards
    • Changes (O.S.A.)
    • Weight variations
    • Intranet tables (seats, lifts, air conditioning)

Required Qualifications

  • DEP in industrial design
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Mastery of AutoCAD software
  • Good blueprint reading and understanding of production assembly concepts
  • Knowledge of measurement tools
  • Good mastery of Word and Excel
  • Knowledge of spoken and written English (asset - predominantly English-speaking suppliers)
  • Rigor and attention to detail
  • Good team spirit
  • Ability to manage priorities and stress
