Our Mirabel site is seeking a new team member to contribute to aircraft manufacturing and assembly.
Job Summary
The assembler‑fitter performs assembly operations: mounting, fitting and installing prefabricated modules and subassemblies to build aircraft. Using technical documentation, a manufacturing process (paper or digital) and a kit of primary parts, the assembler‑fitter works alone or in a team to assemble aircraft structures, delivering quality work that complies with Airbus Atlantic Canada and customer standards and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret fabrication and installation drawings; lay out patterns, cut, shape, assemble and fit sheet and plate metal or other shapes used in structures and assembly.
- Carry out operations required for assembly, fitting, repair, modification and installation of mechanical, electromechanical and hydraulic parts and assemblies; manufacture parts and perform complex adjustments.
- Consult and interpret aircraft assembly diagrams.
- Manufacture simple structural aircraft parts and install structural elements.
- Assemble and fit subassemblies and structural assemblies of airframes and aircraft systems from manufacturing documentation.
- Assemble and install mechanical parts and components on the aircraft.
- Mount, fit and install prefabricated items such as skins, flight controls, fixtures, hydraulic systems and other mechanical systems.
- Set up and use manual or automated machines and tools according to the work to be performed.
- Verify assemblies using measurement and inspection instruments against technical specifications and ensure conformity of assemblies to the manufacturing documentation.
Candidate Profile
Education
Diploma (DEP) in structural assembly or systems installation, or a minimum of 5 years' experience as an assembler‑fitter in the aerospace sector or a related assembly field. Successful completion of an assessment demonstrating basic technical skills is required.
Specific Requirements
- Solid technical knowledge in structural assembly and systems installation.
- Proficiency in aerospace technical language and technical drawing reading.
- Relevant knowledge of FOD (Foreign Object Debris) management.
- Good manual skills and high dexterity.
- Good visual acuity.
- Attention to detail, precision, good reflexes and ability to concentrate (assembly/manufacture of high‑precision components).
- Analytical ability to quickly identify defects or other issues.
- Sense of responsibility regarding part conformity.
- Able to work in multidisciplinary teams (assemblers‑mechanics, aircraft mechanics, other technicians, engineers).
- Experience in the aerospace industry is an asset.
