As a metallurgical engineer in failure analysis, you will be reporting to the Metallurgical investigation, quality & testing manager. You will apply the principles of materials science to conduct investigations, analyze and characterize damaged jet engine components.

As a failure analyst, you will also oversee the related evaluations required in the course of your investigations such as non-destructive evaluations, chemical analyses or others.

The position is based at our Longueuil location, from Monday to Friday, with flexible hours and exclusively on-site.

What will your day-to-day look like?

• Conduct metallurgical investigations of engine hardware, organize and perform detailed examinations and appropriate laboratory analyses (visual and microscopic examinations, metallurgical evaluation, etc.) to determine failure mechanisms and establish the physical causes of distress
• Work closely with internal customers to determine their needs and ensure completion of the investigations within the agreed schedule
• Prepare detailed reports with supporting evidence
• Manage and review outsourced metallurgical investigations
• Review metallurgical evaluations reports on engine hardware
• Participate and contribute to the promotion of the company's pillars (EH&S, Ethics & Quality)

What do you need to be successful?

• Bachelor's degree in materials engineering or equivalent
• Practical experience in failure analysis
• Experience in optical and scanning electron microscopy
• Knowledge of aeronautical materials and their degradation mechanisms
• Knowledge of thermal treatment processes, coatings, foundry, forging, machining, welding
• Ability to research and acquire new knowledge quickly
• Excellent communication skills and results-oriented
• Strong aptitude for multidisciplinary teamwork
• Good leadership, motivated, autonomous, reliable, and results-driven

This position is within a French-speaking work environment, but it requires a very good knowledge of English to read and understand, on a daily basis, documentation and technical terms originating from international organizations, as well as to write and communicate in English with international clients, suppliers, or colleagues.
