The Aeroplan Points Management team manages the profitability of the Aeroplan rewards range. The team constantly develops program levers and structures to optimize Aeroplan's contribution to Air Canada's revenue and profitability, while offering great value to our members.
The increased flow and speed of information from multiple sources, the dynamic market for airline tickets, hotel and car reservations, and the appetite of our five million members for personalized and competitive offers require a highly qualified team that provides cutting-edge tools to monitor and optimize performance and set the stage for a leading loyalty program.
The Rewards Analytics Analyst must demonstrate a strong interest in leveraging their analytical and data skills to drive business decision-making. This person will develop specialized skills in the performance of reward products (flight, car, hotel, gift cards, merchandise, etc.) and the entire travel and loyalty industry. They must also identify and implement potential improvements to current and future reward products offered to members using different methods (e.g., data mining, forecasting, and prescriptive and descriptive analysis). They must convert the results into high-value, easy-to-understand texts to be presented to department heads with the aim of maximizing the profitability of the Aeroplan program.
Responsibilities:
- Acquire a deep understanding of reward products, member behaviors, and the factors influencing range and market performance.
- Acquire advanced knowledge of all data assets and processes relevant to core support activities.
- Ensure the delivery of analytical results, insights, and summaries regarding the performance of key financial reward metrics that lead to concrete actions promoting the profitability of the reward product range.
- Develop forecasts for financial indicators that incorporate historical trends, program changes, and behavioral changes.
- Support the production of reward budgets and financial outlooks.
- Support the management of the reward product range performance against the latest budgets and financial outlooks.
- Support the development of models to better understand member and reward trends.
- Develop a solid understanding of the airline and loyalty sectors to support insights.
- Ensure the production and automation of various reports on reward product performance to be communicated to different business units and used to guide business decisions.
- Support negotiations with partner carriers and other suppliers to ensure program profitability.
- Provide insights and recommendations regarding the performance of the reward product range.
- Evaluate the profitability of future marketing campaigns and promotions and ensure post-campaign analysis.
- Share knowledge gained within the team and contribute to the development of a culture of excellence within the team regarding the growth of advanced analytical skills.
- Produce analyses and offer ad hoc support regarding the quantification of the impact of business initiatives on key financial performance indicators and related risk assessments using financial modeling.
- Automate the detection and identification of deviations from forecasts.
Qualifications
- Good knowledge and practical experience of coding with SQL and Python.
- Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI, mandatory.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to highlight strengths when presenting results (translating complex concepts into simple concepts).
- Particular attention to data and code quality.
- Mathematics and statistics skills, particularly in predictive modeling, time series analysis, optimization techniques, machine learning, etc., an asset.
- Knowledge of the travel and loyalty industry, an asset.
- Experience with financial modeling or simulations and Monte Carlo tools, such as Crystal Ball or @Risk, an asset.
- Enthusiasm for tackling business challenges and finding new growth opportunities.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines while paying attention to details.
- Positive thinking and a sense of humor.
- Bachelor's degree in statistics, mathematics, economics, business, business intelligence, or a related field; master's degree, an asset.
