Air Canada, recognized among Montreal's Top Employers and proud to be among Canada's diversity-friendly employers, is seeking a Fuel Supply Analyst for its Montreal headquarters.

The ideal person must have experience in supply chain and logistics, demonstrate interest in process and procedure improvement, in addition to showing a marked interest in the airline and petroleum industries. They will be part of a dynamic team that enables Air Canada passengers to travel worldwide. The successful candidate will collaborate with key players in the rail, maritime, petroleum, and trucking industries with the objective of optimizing the supply chain and ensuring the security of aviation fuel supply at major Canadian airports.

This position is for an individual who will play a key role, is capable of adapting, and is enthusiastic about finding solutions to supply chain challenges. They must be able to collaborate with partners to obtain the best value for the Corporation and build mutually beneficial relationships with suppliers.

As part of their duties, the chosen person will notably be responsible for activities touching various domains whose priorities change over time according to team needs, and activities touching more specific domains such as logistics, contract negotiations, compliance, process improvement, and operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Valually validate national aviation fuel requirements.
  • Plan and monitor all supply-related logistics, including maritime, pipeline, rail, and truck deliveries.
  • Communicate the delivery plan to suppliers and station operators, and coordinate it.
  • Daily revalidate demand forecasts and apply corrective measures as needed.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, including VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP, pivot tables, macros, and data automation techniques, to support fuel supply planning, inventory analysis, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Validate quality documentation (certificate of analysis) to accept or reject a delivery.
  • Review quality documentation (certificates of analysis) with inspection companies to approve or reject deliveries.
  • Establish aviation fuel handling options in case of a delivery not meeting specifications.
  • Manage daily client-supplier contractual relationships.
  • Analyze quarterly reports for cost control purposes and identify cost reduction opportunities.
  • Coordinate with the commercial team responsibility for credit sales, available sales, and exchange volume contracts.
  • Validate sales invoice information for accounts receivable.
  • Follow up with regulatory bodies on supplier safety and environmental compliance.
  • Provide support to managers for contract negotiations.
  • Assist managers with business transformation and process improvement initiatives.
  • Enforce operational requirements and ensure compliance of railcar fleets (250 and over).
  • Plan vessel traffic (40 to 50 movements per year) for Eastern and Western Canada (over 1 billion liters).
  • Ensure the complete security of supply at all stopovers, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
  • Provide support to the emergency response team by acting as a contact point in case of a crisis related to the transport of aviation fuel.
  • Collaborate with various internal groups, including Taxation, Customs, Legal Affairs, Insurance, and Audit, to ensure our compliance with government and environmental regulations and information reporting requirements.
  • Perform timely reconciliations and month-end account closing the first week of each month.
  • Validate and approve invoices related to operations.
  • Enter daily fuel intake and output data into the fuel management system.
  • Perform various administrative tasks, notably providing bills of lading to carriers and filling out documents in SharePoint.
  • Enter contractual documents into the internal SAP reporting system and provide support to managers for contract negotiations.
  • Collaborate with various internal groups, including Taxation, Customs, Legal Affairs, Insurance, and Audit, to ensure our compliance with government and environmental regulations and information reporting requirements.
  • Assist managers in conducting vendor management audits.
  • Assist managers with business transformation and process improvement initiatives.
  • Translate operational requirements into actionable tasks required for automated processes and reports.
  • Ability to adapt and openness to integrating artificial intelligence (AI) solutions into daily activities to improve operational efficiency, data analysis, forecasting, and decision-making.

Qualifications

  • University degree or equivalent experience with a specialization in a business-related field (accounting, finance, commerce, business technology management, logistics) or other quantitative fields (economics, mathematics, engineering, or equivalent), preferably; graduate studies an asset.
  • Ability to multitask in a dynamic environment operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  • Relevant experience in accounting, finance, supply chain, logistics, or operations, an asset.
  • Team spirit, flexibility, analytical thinking, attention to detail, and excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Mastery of Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint); mastery of Power BI, an asset.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Power BI, formula usage and scripts in Excel, etc.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Power Automate, a preference.
  • Understanding of the airline and petroleum industries, an asset.
  • Willingness to learn and progress, passion for team success.
  • Proven punctuality and reliability to foster overall team success in a fast-paced environment.

Candidates must be eligible to work in the country concerned at the time a job offer is presented and are responsible for obtaining work permits, visas, or other necessary authorizations. Proof of eligibility must be provided before the start date.
