We are looking for an Image Quality Analyst to join our radar production team.

Role:

The SAR image quality analyst is part of the RADAR Production team and ensures that Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) products meet mission requirements.

General responsibilities include:

• Collaborate with the mission and satellite operations team to support ongoing SAR System Calibration for operational missions such as RADARSAT-2, CHORUS and RCM.
• Define and implement system calibration updates to optimize performance.
• Analyze, track and propose solutions to SAR system performance issues.
• Collaborate with the satellite operations team to improve SAR image quality (SAR IQ) monitoring capabilities, including the adoption of automated methods and tools.
• Perform operational analyses and trade-off studies.
• Collaborate with the satellite operations and mission teams to define requirements for SAR system performance monitoring.
• Ensure continuous maintenance of calibration plans for operational SAR systems, including SAR IQ/Calibration data acquisition campaigns and ground target (e.g., polyhedral reflectors) maintenance.
• Collaborate with satellite operations and mission teams to support the development of new SAR systems and the updating or improvement of current system modes.
• Develop and improve software tools used for SAR system performance analysis.
• Maintain links with the national and international technical community to exchange information on SAR system performance.

Successful candidates must obtain and hold SECRET level security clearance, and pass the security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP).

Required Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor's degree or post-graduate degree in engineering, physics, mathematics or other relevant disciplines.

Experience

• At least two years of professional experience as a SAR systems engineer or analyst.
• Experience with

• Matlab

• MS Excel, for technical analysis purposes
• Satellite remote sensing or Earth observation
• SAR imaging theory and principles

• Scripting or programming experience

Additional relevant skills:

• Experience applying machine learning techniques to geospatial data analysis.
• Excellent problem-solving skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills

• Ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment
• Experience in SAR system calibration
• Knowledge of SAR mission design and performance requirements
• Knowledge of SAR satellite payloads
• Knowledge of SAR image product generation
• Knowledge of SAR image analysis and applications
• Knowledge of orbital mechanics, satellite communications, satellite design and operational considerations

• Developing and enhancing software tools used in SAR system performance analysis.
• Maintaining links with the national and international technical community for communications on SAR system performance.
