We are looking for a highly motivated, dynamic and ambitious individual who wants to learn and advance their career at Air Canada. The Analyst – Finance will work in collaboration with Air Canada's Commercial Affairs management, to support the achievement of operational objectives and efforts to maintain sustainable profitability for the company. The person holding this position reports to the Business Partner – Finance – Commercial Affairs.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that effective financial management methods, systems and controls are developed, implemented and maintained in accordance with policies and requirements.
  • Assist the Business Partner – Finance in supporting Air Canada Media, Charters – Business and Sports Teams and Travel Management business units in the ongoing management of their business activities.
  • Ensure that effective financial management, processes and systems, as well as controls, are maintained in accordance with policies and requirements (accruals and month-end explanations, intercompany transactions, outlooks, budgets, balance sheet reconciliations, profitability analyses and contract negotiation).
  • Build strong relationships with Air Canada business units to "be part of the team," effectively balancing financial control, consulting, and support functions.
  • Actively participate in the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing process, and produce compelling reports and key performance indicators to improve expense and budget management.
  • Support the Company with billing and payment issues, resolving issues or escalating them to the appropriate resources within the company.
  • Provide financial support and advice to business unit leaders to develop strategies and initiatives to achieve or exceed the unit's financial objectives, including revenue growth and cost reduction initiatives.
  • Conduct cost and value comparisons for new projects and contracts using internal and external data to continuously improve the business unit's financial performance.
  • Ensure a high and consistent degree of quality of services provided with regard to timeliness, accuracy and user-friendliness.
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of SAP financial transactions: provide guidance on the impact accounting should have on management transactions and collaborate with the Finance and Audit team to report, identify and assess financial inaccuracies.

Qualifications

  • Proven punctuality and reliability to promote overall team success in a fast-paced environment.
  • Undergraduate degree in finance or accounting.
  • CPA designation obtained, or in progress, an asset.
  • Autonomy, dynamism, strong spirit of initiative and creativity.
  • Strong analytical mind.
  • Knowledge of financial analysis techniques and the accounting cycle.
  • Knowledge of or experience in operating a company or an airline, an asset.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel software and ability to learn to use financial applications and software.
  • Results-oriented attitude with good organizational skills and ability to work under pressure.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Proven punctuality and reliability to promote overall team success in a fast-paced environment.

Employment conditions:
