The Resource Planning Analyst is responsible for overseeing short- and long-term pilot and crew staffing planning by providing efficient and cost-effective crew solutions. The incumbent will ensure crew availability precisely meets daily operational requirements by performing in-depth data analysis of scheduled flight hours, uplift requirements, cabin crew obligations, crew availability and leave. The role also supports planning requirements for Air Canada Rouge flights.

Responsibilities

  • Perform complex manipulations and in-depth schedule analyses to support staffing requirements and determine optimal allocation of cabin crew bases.
  • Maintain staffing models to ensure alignment with commercial, operational and business needs.
  • Develop forecasts and maintain metrics to align and reconcile models, operational results and staffing budgets. Ensure the Crew Planning team meets deadlines for short- and long-term staffing decisions and adheres to regulatory standards.
  • Coordinate workforce adjustments with line managers to ensure optimal staffing and cost-effective solutions.
  • Continuously adjust plans based on changes to operational/resource plans. Develop contingency plans to manage changes or cabin crew availability requirements.
  • Manage weekly changes to staffing plans and rosters. Identify significant changes and highlight variances to the budget.
  • Generate and manage forecasts based on model-driven assumptions. Measure and review assumptions against prior performance.
  • Forecast annual reserve assignments and ensure proper allocation and management of reserve staffing levels.
  • Produce reports to track model inputs and assumptions. Contribute to improving models, metrics and assumptions related to deliverables.
  • Continuously seek improvements to cabin crew planning to achieve staffing efficiency gains.
  • Set cabin crew staffing targets to develop training and recruitment plans as needed.
  • Set scheduling targets for the Flight Operations Program and provide periodic performance reporting against them.
  • Lead regular performance reviews with key stakeholders to report on performance measures and forecasts.
  • Proactively identify changes and potential updates to crew planning operating processes based on reporting and analysis that will improve efficiency and minimize costs for the Company.
  • Run scenarios to simulate the potential impact of operational variations—such as schedule and aircraft type changes, crew base assignments and other resources. Analyze potential costs to the Company through change analysis and propose adjustments to mitigate costs.

Qualifications

  • University degree, college diploma or equivalent industry experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in a similar role.
  • Results-oriented attitude and strong attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational and management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proven ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong working knowledge of Windows software (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.).
  • Work experience related to collective agreements.
  • Knowledge of Air Canada systems is an asset.
  • In-flight service or flight operations experience is a definite asset.
  • Demonstrated punctuality and reliability to support overall team success in a fast-paced environment.
