To support Air Canada's continued growth and success, the Network Planning team is expanding and is responsible for determining Air Canada's flight schedule and network. The main objective is to establish the flight schedule and provide analyzes to manage Air Canada's route network, in accordance with the Company's objectives in terms of profitability, growth and market positioning.

Responsibilities:

This is a crucial position within Network Planning, providing analysis and schedules for Air Canada's route network.

  • Identify and evaluate new opportunities and route opportunities to foster expansion and growth.
  • Help optimize the profitability of the overall network plan.
  • Establish a flight schedule for Air Canada's network to ensure operational integrity.
  • In collaboration with other members of Network Planning, provide analyzes and recommendations so that the route network and seasonal flight schedule are as competitive and profitable as possible; take into consideration, in particular, destinations, itineraries, capacity, frequency and flight departure and arrival times.
  • Optimize the deployment of the Air Canada, Air Canada Rouge and Air Canada Express fleet to maximize asset utilization, revenue and profits.
  • Work collaboratively with Air Canada's Operations groups to understand cost levers and manage schedules in the most efficient way, while optimizing profitability.
  • Monitor and analyze competitors' fleet plan, capacity, network and schedules, and formulate appropriate strategies and tactics based on opportunities and threats, within their area of responsibility.
  • Optimize traffic at hubs, while balancing commercial objectives, operational constraints and revenue-cost trade-offs. Where the solution is viable, redefine passenger flows without passing through hubs to improve the product, reduce costs, gain a competitive advantage and increase network profitability.
  • Effectively use network planning and airline scheduling tools.
  • Communicate with commercial stakeholders (Revenue Management, Alliances, Marketing, etc.) to ensure that the network strategy is well understood and well applied.
  • Participate in discussions and manage relationships with airports.
  • Prepare presentations for various stakeholders across the Company.
  • Perform analyzes and prepare presentations to support discussions with joint venture partners.

Qualifications

  • University degree in airline management, administration, mathematics, statistics or economics, an asset.
  • Great creativity, innovative spirit and ingenuity related to an airline's planning and flight operations program.
  • Ability to convert strategic direction into seasonal schedules in an informed manner.
  • Ability to multitask under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to analyze large amounts of data and present conclusions clearly and concisely.
  • One or two years of experience in flight operations scheduling, network planning or revenue management, or a proven interest in aviation and air transport.
  • Basic experience in flight operations scheduling or comfort in learning it, an asset.
  • A degree in management, mathematics, statistics or economics, an asset.
  • Initiative and ability to work well under pressure in a team environment.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (especially Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Demonstrate punctuality and reliability to support the overall success of the team in a fast-paced environment.

Conditions of employment:

Candidates must be eligible to work in the country concerned at the time an offer of employment is made and are responsible for obtaining the necessary work permits, visas or other authorizations. Proof of eligibility must be provided prior to the start date.
