About the role

The Electronic Attack Systems Analyst will be responsible for developing electronic attack mission libraries for the Royal Canadian Navy at the Centre for Naval Electronic Warfare (CGEN) in Ottawa, Canada. The analyst will be embedded at CGEN to develop engagement models within the Ship Air Defence Model (SADM) framework and to use other modeling and simulation tools to create and test mission libraries. Engagement models may include the ship, the environment, sensors (radar, electro-optical and infrared), electronic attack means (chaff, decoys and jammers), and threat-related systems. The analyst will also be responsible for documentation as well as verification and validation of the numerical models. Other responsibilities may include support for shore and at-sea trials.

Responsibilities

  • Perform technical analyses and research in unclassified and classified documents on system parameters and behaviours
  • Perform first-principles mathematical modeling to estimate system parameters
  • Develop parametric models
  • Conduct simulated engagements between various entities (ship, threat-related systems)
  • Run simulations and Monte Carlo analyses
  • Carry out analysis and verification activities to confirm model behaviour
  • Document simulation results

What you bring (Requirements)

  • Bachelor's degree in mathematics, physics or engineering related to the role with ten years of professional experience, or a master's degree with seven years of experience
  • Experience in radar systems design, and radar signal processing and analysis
  • Radio frequency theory
  • Ability to obtain a Secret-level security clearance
  • Canadian citizenship

  • Master's or PhD in mathematics, physics or engineering
  • Experience with physics-based modeling and simulation using SADM, MATLAB/Simulink
  • Design and analysis of electronic warfare systems
  • Application of electronic attack and electronic protection concepts and systems
  • Design and analysis of electronic support measures
  • Antenna design and analysis
  • Use of guided weapon systems (autopilots, tracking, guidance, navigation and control)
  • Modeling and simulation of military systems
