About the role

The Electronic Attack Systems Analyst will be responsible for developing electronic attack mission libraries for the Royal Canadian Navy at the Naval Electronic Warfare Centre (CGEN) in Ottawa, Canada. The Electronic Attack Systems Analyst will be integrated into CGEN to develop engagement models as part of the Ship Anti-Air Defense Model (SADM) and to use other modeling and simulation tools to create and test mission libraries. Engagement models may include the ship, environment, sensors (radar, optoelectronic, and infrared), electronic attack means (chaff, decoys, and jammers) as well as threat systems. The Electronic Attack Systems Analyst will also be responsible for the documentation as well as the verification and validation of digital models. Other responsibilities may include supporting land and sea trials.

Responsibilities may include the following:

  • Perform technical analysis and research in unclassified and classified documents on system parameters and behaviors
  • Perform mathematical modeling based on first principles to estimate system parameters
  • Develop parametric models
  • Conduct simulated combat between different entities (ship, threat systems)
  • Execute Monte Carlo simulations and analyzes
  • Perform analysis and verification activities to confirm system model behaviors
  • Document simulation results.

What you bring to the position

  • A bachelor’s degree in mathematics, physics, or engineering related to the position with ten years of professional experience or a master's degree with seven years of experience
  • Experience in radar system design, and radar signal processing and analysis
  • Radiofrequency theory
  • Ability to obtain a Secret level security clearance
  • Canadian citizenship.

Additional skills desired for the position

  • Master's or Ph.D. in mathematics, physics, or engineering
  • Experience with physics-based modeling and simulation using SADM, MATLAB/Simulink
  • Electronic warfare systems design and analysis
  • Application of electronic attack and electronic protection concepts and systems
  • Electronic support measures design and analysis
  • Antenna design and analysis
  • Use of guided weapon systems (autopilots, tracking, guidance, navigation, and control)
  • Modeling and simulation of military systems.

Salary Transparency

Salary Range

$119,000 - $156,000
