This position is responsible for leading the coordination and continuous improvement of key processes related to the catering products portfolio, ensuring company-wide consistency, data integrity, and operational readiness across Air Canada's network. The ideal candidate is a proactive, solutions-oriented leader, capable of navigating complexity, influencing cross-functional stakeholders, and driving significant improvements that enhance the onboard customer experience.

The Catering Products Analyst plays a vital role in managing several fundamental components of the catering ecosystem – maintaining high quality standards, financial accuracy, compliance discipline, and harmonization across teams, thereby enabling the successful implementation of Air Canada’s catering strategy. The role requires close collaboration with internal partners such as in-flight services, catering operations, finance, as well as numerous suppliers and caterers. It is essential to the reliability and integrity of product merchandising.

Responsibilities

Strategic Product Governance and Documentation Management

  • Lead the governance, accuracy, and version control of all catering product documentation, including transmitted updates, ensuring changes are strategically aligned, risk-assessed, and rigorously communicated to caterers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Establish and maintain organizational standards for documentation workflows, ensuring consistent implementation of product changes across the global network and supporting operational readiness at all stations.
  • Manage and evolve digital product systems (e.g., menu management platforms, allergen databases), ensuring their integration into workflows and supporting automation, scalability, and data accuracy.

Pricing, Ingredients, and Financial Data Management

  • Manage end-to-end supplier pricing data, ensuring its integrity, traceability, and compliance with financial controls.
  • Oversee the development and continuous improvement of the internal pricing reference system, a critical asset used by Finance, Billing, and catering partners for accurate invoice processing and forecasting.
  • Collaborate with Finance to identify cost risks, resolve discrepancies, and improve processes to strengthen financial accountability and reduce manual errors.

Menu Content Quality Assurance and Brand Alignment

  • Ensure the review, accuracy, and final approval of printed and digital menu content, ensuring compliance with Air Canada's brand standards, regulatory requirements, and product strategy.
  • Lead cross-functional coordination with procurement, catering partners, and design/print suppliers to ensure timely and high-quality updates.

Financial Monitoring and Supplier Performance

  • Oversee timely supplier invoicing, ensuring compliance with contractual terms, budgetary assumptions, and corporate policies.
  • Conduct trend analysis on partner expenditures to identify cost anomalies, operational inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities, escalating issues and driving corrective action plans with Procurement and Finance.

Donation Program Leadership and Social Impact

  • Manage the organizational donation framework for expiring catering products, ensuring donations support Air Canada’s social impact priorities, comply with safety and compliance standards, and strengthen relationships with the Air Canada Foundation and supplier partners.
  • Optimize donation-related workflows and reporting to maximize community impact and operational efficiency.

Procurement Partnership and Tender Leadership

  • Lead cross-functional collaboration with Strategic Procurement to develop competitive and sustainable tenders reflecting Air Canada’s product strategy, quality standards, sustainability objectives, and cost structure.
  • Translate product requirements into supplier specifications and influence business decisions by providing analyses on quality, operational feasibility, and long-term financial implications.

Product Feedback Management

  • Conduct product quality assurance reviews and escalate issues as needed.
  • Perform random product evaluations to verify presentation and compliance with specifications. Document findings and escalate quality concerns to relevant teams.
  • Log and coordinate resolutions related to customer feedback and safety incidents, including meal comments, social media questions, and product information requests. Manage safety incidents by redirecting issues to responsible parties, investigating with catering partners, and closing cases with the Safety team.

Organizational and Team Efficiency Improvement

  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase team productivity and strengthen cross-functional alignment.
  • Evaluate current workflows and propose improvements to increase efficiency and reduce manual errors.
  • Monitor the implementation of new processes and act as a resource to support change management within the team.
  • Support the team in various projects, initiatives, and daily tasks, including:
    • Meal pre-order program
    • Bistro retail program
    • Crew feedback analysis
    • Food audits
    • Sustainability programs

Qualifications

  • Over 3 years of relevant experience
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Advanced proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Highly developed interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Undergraduate degree in administration or a related field (asset)
  • Experience in dynamic professional environments
  • Travel between Toronto and Montreal as needed
  • Knowledge of Asana (asset)
  • Technical knowledge in process automation (Python, VBA) and database management (asset)
  • Experience in the airline industry (asset)
  • Demonstrate punctuality and reliability to support overall team success in a fast-paced environment
