Reporting to the Senior Manager - Sales Accounting and Refunds, the Analyst - Sales and Refund Services supports company initiatives and process improvements aimed at strengthening controls, efficiency, and operational reliability of Sales, Refund Services, Revenue Protection, as well as payment processing.

The incumbent applies business knowledge and principles of analytics, implementation planning, and change management to evaluate processes, develop test plans, validate results, establish procedures, and provide insights that foster the adoption of effective and sustainable initiatives to drive business performance.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead cross-functional process improvement and problem-solving initiatives aimed at strengthening controls, efficiency, and operational reliability of Sales, Refund Services, Revenue Protection, as well as payment processing through root cause analysis, sustainable mitigation strategies, system and automation improvements, process redesign, and capacity building.
  • Evaluate current management methods, controls, and data to identify risks, opportunities, and gaps, establish procedures, and formulate actionable recommendations aligned with the priorities of Sales Accounting and Refunds and Revenue Protection.
  • Provide management with actionable measures relying on analytics and insights to support quality control, productivity, and efficiency, and identify training opportunities on passenger sales and refund transactions, as well as payments.
  • Influence and promote a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and process redesign within Passenger Revenue Accounting by encouraging collaboration, knowledge sharing, and the adoption of improved business practices.
  • Provide accounting support for monthly closing activities, including the review of journal entries, general ledger account activity, and general ledger reconciliations to ensure accuracy, control compliance, and timely problem resolution.
  • Liaise with the Passenger Revenue Accounting systems implementation group during the system change process; investigate and resolve production issues, and identify opportunities and solutions.
  • Develop and maintain user documentation, communicate changes to cross-functional groups and management, and enable consistent adoption through targeted training and knowledge transfer.
  • Maintain process control documentation, National Instrument 52-109, and audit documentation to support compliance, control evidence, and internal and external audit requirements.
  • Collaborate with key internal and external stakeholders and business partners to define requirements, evaluate options, and provide optimal solutions for company and industry initiatives while maintaining accounting controls and processing efficiency.
  • Develop test plans, perform pre- and post-implementation reviews, validate the results of changes, and establish new procedures to foster effective adoption, operational control, and sustainable process performance.
  • Establish and maintain escalation, problem-solving, and risk management practices for initiatives and targeted daily results to foster timely decision-making, accountability, and effective operational outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a relevant discipline.
  • Strong accounting skills; CPA designation or equivalent is an asset.
  • Knowledge of Passenger Revenue Accounting operational functions and systems infrastructure - Navitaire (Sales, Refunds, Accounting and Financial Reporting); Altéa (ARD Web and APM) and direct sales systems; IATA Billing and Settlement Plan (BSP), an asset.
  • Working knowledge of Snowflake, Siebel, and writing queries in SQL, an asset.
  • Advanced knowledge of PC applications (Microsoft Office suite: Word, Excel, Power Query, Power BI, OneNote, PowerPoint, Visio).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to work with multiple systems, and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to work under pressure, multitask, prioritize tasks, manage expectations, and meet deadlines with limited supervision.
  • Effective implementation planning, coordination, and documentation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written, including with all levels of management and internal and external business partners.
  • Autonomy, drive, initiative, creativity, and promptness.
