As a Solutions Architect - Infrastructure and Cloud Services at Air Canada, you will help define, design, and evolve technological solutions that support business needs, agility, and strategic growth. Working with business and IT teams, you will translate business strategies and requirements into concrete designs and provide architectural guidance throughout the solution lifecycle, from ideation to implementation, including development, infrastructure, data, and security.
The incumbent will report to the Director, Technology Architecture.
Responsibilities:
- Understand current and future business drivers and capabilities, and recommend system designs and architectural changes that support desired outcomes.
- Understand trends and innovations in emerging technologies to support new business or operational models.
- Translate business and technical requirements into architectures that achieve target goals, and document work related to solutions architecture design and analysis.
- Lead and support the design, development, and implementation of complex multi-tier solutions in cloud or hybrid environments.
- Present proposed solutions and clearly communicate designs to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Support solution implementation by providing architectural and technical guidance to delivery teams.
- Ensure the quality of defined solutions and their compliance with technology strategies, standards, and best practices defined by the Enterprise Architecture team.
- Establish effective technical relationships within multidisciplinary teams.
Qualifications
- Relevant university degree, relevant technical certification, or equivalent experience in the role.
- Significant experience, typically seven years or more, in IT, notably in solutions architecture, application architecture, development, infrastructure, or related technological domains.
- Experience in solution design in cloud or hybrid environments.
- Knowledge or experience related to corporate, airline, or commercial systems considered an asset.
- Experience with architecture modeling tools and frameworks, such as ArchiMate, TOGAF, or BIZBOK, considered an asset.
- Certification in cloud platforms considered an asset.
- Knowledge of emerging technologies, such as AI, machine learning, large language models, or agentic systems, considered an asset.
- Understanding and knowledge of IT standards and controls.
- Advanced analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills with a structured approach.
- Professional attitude, service orientation, and ability to build and maintain effective business relationships.
- Ability to work effectively in fast-paced environments and manage changing priorities with support and collaboration.
- Demonstrate punctuality and reliability to support the overall success of the team in a fast-paced environment.
- Bilingualism in French and English considered an asset.
- Flexibility to adapt to business needs, including occasional extended hours as needed.
