Electromechanical Assembler (Senior Assembler)

Job summary:

Working in a Class 100,000 cleanroom environment and reporting to the Production Supervisor, the assembler performs required tasks to assemble, disassemble, repair, adjust, solder, desolder and inspect prefabricated components and electronic, electromechanical, mechanical, electrical and electro-optical boards and assemblies.

Responsibilities:

• Assemble, disassemble, repair, adjust and inspect mechanical and optical assemblies using instruction manuals, parts lists and mechanical and/or optical assembly drawings.
• Use a variety of tools and fixtures for mechanical assembly.
• Prepare, clean and install optical parts into metal and/or plastic housings.
• Touch up paint on metal housings prior to final inspection.

Qualifications and required skills:

• DEC or DEP in electronics, mechanics or equivalent, or a technical diploma from a recognized school in an appropriate discipline.
• Ability to read, interpret and follow information from drawings, sketches, charts, tables, work instructions, procedures or other technical documents to perform required work.
• Knowledge of reading mechanical and/or electronic plans.
• Good manual skills and dexterity.
• Excellent visual acuity and good hand-eye coordination.
• Experience using a variety of tools.
• Care and precision for assembling delicate parts.
• A minimum of 3 to 5 years' experience in a unionized manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in both French and English (written and spoken).
• Knowledge of IPC-610 standards is an asset.

This position requires a good command of English to interact with, support and/or provide services to international customers, employees and/or partners and foreign government authorities who do not speak French.

This position requires direct or indirect access to hardware, software or technical information controlled under the Canadian Export Control List, the Canadian Controlled Goods Program, the Canadian Industrial Security Program, the US International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or the US Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
