Rheinmetall Canada is currently looking for a Project Procurement Officer whose main challenge will be to develop strategies and provide the full range of services related to the acquisition of goods and services for the company. Reporting to the Procurement Manager, the position holder will work closely with stakeholders across the business. Through influence and leadership, the role will be key at Rheinmetall Canada and will strongly contribute to the company's growth.
Main Responsibilities
- Act as Lead to support the Procurement Director on subcontract contract files, actively contributing to the planning, execution and follow-up of key initiatives.
- Analyze, structure and consolidate internal client needs, ensuring alignment with business objectives, budgets and timelines.
- Serve as the primary commercial and contractual contact point with suppliers.
- Define and deploy optimal procurement strategies, including risk management, to ensure successful mandates.
- Actively participate in the drafting, negotiation and review of contractual agreements and subcontracts.
- Manage subcontract administration, including supplier performance, contract deviations and non-conformances.
- Lead the entire procurement cycle: tenders (RFP/RFQ), commercial and technical analysis, cost estimation, recommendations and supplier selection.
- Lead complex negotiations to obtain the best commercial terms (costs, lead times, quality, contractual clauses).
- Oversee the preparation and issuance of complex purchase orders and ensure rigorous follow-up.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of procurement processes and contract management practices.
- Represent the company with partners and suppliers, locally and internationally (as needed).
Qualifications
- University degree in a relevant field (management, procurement, engineering, law, business administration or equivalent).
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, including significant experience in strategic procurement and contract/subcontract management.
- Strong understanding of contractual and legal environments, with the ability to structure, analyze and negotiate complex agreements.
- Proven experience in managing strategic negotiations and supplier relationships.
- Excellent analytical, synthesis and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written) and strong ability to influence internal and external stakeholders.
- Bilingualism (French and English), spoken and written.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (notably advanced Excel) and experience with an ERP (SAP is an asset).
- Strong sense of ethics, judgment and responsibility, with a results-oriented approach.
- Natural leadership, autonomy and ability to act as a lead within the team.
