Position Summary
Thales is looking to hire a NEM Liaison and Service Delivery Team Lead who will be embedded with the Fleet Engineering Readiness (FER) section. You will be the liaison between the relevant coastal organizations for the iterative development of the AOPV and JSS Fleet Service Schedules. In addition to schedule management you will prioritize deficiencies including their rectification schedule for all AJISS coastal platforms. The NEM Liaison and Service Delivery Team Lead represents Thales as a member of the AJISS Assignment Team (AAT) and is responsible for liaising between all AJISS stakeholders regarding the allocation, prioritization, disposition and reporting of all deficiencies from notification through to closeout. Reporting to the Team Services Manager, the NEM Liaison and Service Delivery Team Lead is responsible for tracking the metrics used to inform Key Performance Indicators (KPI) that fall under Service Delivery.
Key Areas of Responsibility
Liaise with RCN to ensure that all deficiencies reported by ship staff are legitimate and afforded the appropriate repair priority.
Report status of Operational Deficiencies (OPDEF) as received by RCN and regarding repair progress; ensure deficiencies contain sufficient detail (including steps already taken) to enable a repair philosophy and plan.
Ensure deficiencies are flowed through to the Thales Canada Halifax AJISS Office with sufficient technical detail and operational impact information to enable proper priority and urgency of repair effort.
Ensure all operational requirements and schedule changes are reported to the Thales Canada Halifax AJISS office and prepare regular reports as required.
Interact and promote a teamwork atmosphere with all levels of DND, maximizing use of the Relational Contracting (RC) model, including the agreed RC AJISS Enterprise Charter.
Arrange progress meetings with RCN as required; attend regular departmental meetings with the AJISS Team Services Manager to build and consolidate continuous feedback and improvement mechanisms; schedule and attend regular meetings with the AJISS Halifax Maintenance Team lead and Ship Maintenance Coordinators (SMCs) to review ship schedules for running repairs, Short Work Periods and Docking Work Periods.
Act as lead on behalf of Thales for overall Technical Program Management within RCN for AOPVs and JSSs, within the overall Formation and Fleet Operational schedules.
Ensure Operational, Fleet and Technical Formation Schedules are informed regarding Thales Technical Support Network (TSN) and Fleet Maintenance Facilities for appropriate load leveling of repair and maintenance effort.
Update documentation, procedures and templates for AJISS as requested.
Provide oversight and direction to a team within the Service Delivery department in accordance with organizational policies and procedures; coach, mentor and develop staff, oversee onboarding and career development; recruit and hire as required; foster teamwork and continuous improvement; undertake other project duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
5 years demonstrated experience within the last 10 years working with the RCN supporting maintenance and upgrade activities during Docking Work Periods (DWPs) and Short Work Periods (SWPs).
Thorough knowledge of RCN deficiency reporting methodologies and experience with evaluation and prioritization of defect repairs is preferred.
Experience working within a Defence environment and with active Defence force personnel during the past 5 years.
Preferred Qualifications
2 years demonstrated experience within the last 5 years liaising with Coastal Authorities (Fleet Engineering Readiness (FER)) and Fleet Maintenance Facilities (FMFs) for scheduling and execution of work and trials during DWPs and/or SWPs.
Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline is desirable.
Physical Demands
Work in office, dockyards and on board naval ships alongside in harbour or at sea.
May be required to undertake inspections in machinery spaces of naval ships involving bending and twisting.
Schedule: 40 hours per week.
Physical environment: office or onboard ships alongside in harbour or at sea.
Travel: occasional domestic or international travel may be required in support of the ships or the AJISS Enterprise.
