The National Commercial Head is a key leader within Air Canada's APAC sales team, responsible for driving passenger sales and marketing activities in Australia and New Zealand. The position aims to generate profitable revenue growth, increase market share and strengthen customer engagement, in line with Air Canada's New Frontier strategy.

As the primary representative of the market, this role acts as official spokesperson and assumes full responsibility for commercial performance, external relations and local leadership. This position requires a visionary leader capable of accelerating digital sales transformation, expanding distribution channels and implementing innovative commercial strategies.

Responsibilities:

Strategic leadership and growth

  • Develop and implement market strategies aligned with the New Frontier vision.
  • Achieve revenue, yield and market share targets.
  • Identify and seize growth opportunities.
  • Monitor market trends and competitor activity; recommend strategic actions.

Commercial execution

  • Drive sales across all segments to achieve profitable growth.
  • Lead the negotiation and management of commercial agreements.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and contractual processes.
  • Manage budgets with strong financial discipline.

Digital sales and innovation

  • Lead a digitally-focused sales approach across direct channels (web, mobile, NDC).
  • Foster the adoption of modern distribution capabilities.
  • Promote innovation in customer engagement and business models.
  • Apply data-driven approaches to optimize pricing and value proposition.

Team leadership and development

  • Lead and develop a high-performing sales team.
  • Strengthen skills in digital sales, analytics and account management.
  • Provide coaching to improve commercial effectiveness.
  • Ensure close alignment with headquarters and influence cross-functional stakeholders.

Market intelligence and representation

  • Act as Air Canada's primary spokesperson in the market.
  • Provide analysis on customer trends, competitors and market developments.
  • Ensure effective execution of B2B and B2C marketing initiatives.
  • Represent Air Canada to governments, business partners and industry players.

Partnerships and stakeholder management

  • Establish strategic partnerships with tourism boards, governments and industry players.
  • Leverage partnerships to stimulate inbound tourism to Canada.
  • Ensure alignment of local execution with global strategy in collaboration with headquarters.
  • Engage local Canadian communities to strengthen brand presence.

Governance and corporate representation

  • Act as Air Canada's official representative, including with proxy.
  • Supervise local staff as well as administrative and financial responsibilities.
  • Ensure compliance with governance, risk management and company standards.

Qualifications

  • Degree in business administration, tourism or a related field.
  • Confirmed experience in sales management (preferably in the airline or travel industry).
  • Strong business acumen with a track record of revenue growth.
  • Experience in digital sales, distribution or e-commerce (asset).
  • Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to perform effectively in a dynamic environment.
  • Aptitudes in negotiation, influencing and partnership development.
  • Availability to travel as needed.
  • Availability to work across different time zones, or occasionally outside business hours, is essential.

Employment conditions:

Candidates must be eligible to work in the country concerned at the time a job offer is presented and are responsible for obtaining work permits, visas or other necessary authorizations. Proof of eligibility must be provided before the start date.

Language Requirements

Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
