Regulatory Compliance Requirements

Position Summary
The Ship Maintenance Lead, Corrective Maintenance (CM) will oversee defect notifications, update systems of record, chair regular meetings with program stakeholders and provide task assignment updates for naval vessels. Reporting to the Ship Maintenance Team Lead, this role works closely with the Naval Engineering Management Lead, platform-specific Ship Maintenance Leads, Maintenance Coordinators, Engineering and external stakeholders. Other ship maintenance duties will be assigned as capacity dictates.
Key Areas of Responsibility
The Ship Maintenance Lead CM is responsible to:
- Search for newly raised defects within the Royal Canadian Navy's maintenance management information system (DRMIS) and ensure relevant details are populated into Thales' maintenance management information system and associated tracking tools.
- Chair the bi-weekly AJISS Assignment Team (AAT) meeting and conduct all associated meeting administration, including distributing information on new defects prior to each meeting and job assignments on conclusion of each meeting.
- Review high-level scope of all corrective maintenance jobs assigned to Thales and assign follow-on Specification/Statement of Work development tasks to appropriate Waterfront Team members.
- Draft, review and approve Statements of Work using Thales' document management system.
- Work with the Coastal Planning Team and Ship Maintenance Leads to ensure Corrective Maintenance jobs assigned to Thales are added into scope for upcoming short work periods based on materiel availability and other resource constraints.
- Liaise with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) who have annual support agreements with Thales and coordinate opportunities for OEMs to complete corrective and preventative maintenance assigned under their agreements.
- Provide updates to internal stakeholders and draft/distribute reports related to Corrective Maintenance as required.
- Support data entry and data validation in the Royal Canadian Navy's maintenance management information system (DRMIS) as required.
- Perform other duties in support of the Coastal Service Delivery Team as assigned by the Waterfront Manager.
Minimum Qualifications
- 3 or more years of experience managing projects and teams, preferably in ship/dockyard and naval environments.
- Experience supervising teams undertaking maintenance activities.
- Strong computer literacy with proven experience using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Experience interfacing between various internal and external stakeholders within a project.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to balance multiple priorities.
- Language: English.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum 3-year technical program diploma from a recognized technical institute, certification as a technologist by a recognized licensing body, or QL-6B level military technical training.
- Accreditation as a Certified Practising Project Manager or equivalent.
- Experience within procurement, project management or warehouse environments.
- Experience with the Defense Resource Management Information System (DRMIS) or comparable document management systems.
- Experience working within or leading In Service Support Projects.
- Experience working within a defence environment with active defence force personnel.

Special Position Requirements
Predominantly working onsite in the naval dockyard and onboard naval vessels; will also be required to work from the office or from home. Role requires undertaking inspections, including confined space entry, on naval ships involving bending and twisting; tasks may also require working at heights.
Schedule: 40 hours per week
Physical Environment: Office and naval ships alongside in harbour or at sea; must meet federal government requirements to access Canadian government facilities, including naval dockyards.
Travel: Occasional domestic or international travel will be required, including access to government facilities and assets, such as naval vessels.
Customer Location Based or Site Visits: Access to government facilities and assets, including naval vessels.
Compensation
The reference Total Target Compensation (TTC) market range for this position, inclusive of annual base salary and the variable compensation target, is between Total Target Cash (TTC) $100,000 - $125,000 CAD Annual.
This range reflects market data and helps guide pay decisions; actual placement in the range depends on factors such as career history, competencies, skills, performance and company budget. Thales may offer additional benefits and compensation depending on circumstances.
