Job Description

Do you have solid experience in managing complex projects, excel at mobilizing multidisciplinary teams, and want to put your expertise to work on major technical solutions for A220 operators? This position is for you!

The A220 commercial aircraft program is looking for a candidate to join our airframe engineering team based in Mirabel (Quebec, Canada). Reporting directly to the Director of the unit, you will contribute to defining and executing the technical roadmap in order to resolve maturity issues and increase customer satisfaction.

In this role, you will demonstrate strong influential leadership to define robust execution plans, engage internal and external stakeholders, and ensure compliance with engineering commitments, all without direct hierarchical authority.

Your Work Environment

The headquarters of the A220 commercial aircraft program is located in Mirabel, in the Greater Montreal area, where the vibrant city is just a stone's throw away. Renowned for its peaceful and safe environment, the region offers a high quality of life for both young and experienced professionals and families, perfectly balancing career opportunities and outdoor activities.

Because We Take Care of You

  • Financial benefits: Attractive salary, annual bonus, group insurance plan, pension plan, and share ownership plan.

  • Work-life balance: A hybrid work policy, an on-site cafeteria, and a highly competitive holiday policy.

  • Well-being / health: Employee Assistance Program (EAP), discount program, access to a public shuttle service between Laval (Montmorency metro station) and Mirabel, and a carpooling application.

  • Personal development: Numerous opportunities for growth and training (a catalog of over 10,000 e-training courses available in open access, certifications, accelerated development programs, national and international mobility).

At Airbus, we foster flexibility in our ways of working to stimulate an innovative spirit.

Your Challenges (Responsibilities)

Working closely with the engineering and services teams, your main missions will be to:

  • Plan and steer: Define realistic and ambitious execution plans by securing stakeholder alignment and commitment on deliverables, milestones, resources, and associated budgets.

  • Unite through influence: Extensively gather and mobilize the team's designers and engineers toward achieving objectives, without direct hierarchical authority.

  • Deploy governance: Structure internal governance and actively participate in external bodies to lead projects according to four key pillars:

    • Corrosion roadmap.

    • Repairability roadmap (restoration, expansion of allowable damage limits, and generic repairs).

    • Maintenance escalation (cracking issues and repetitive inspections).

    • Interchangeability issues.

  • Collaborate transversally: Develop a strong partnership with the Customer Services team and the Chief Engineer's team to clarify and materialize market expectations.

  • Manage risks and performance: Proactively identify execution risks, develop contingency plans, and ensure rigorous monitoring of compliance with plans (time, cost, quality).

  • Ensure strategic visibility: Present project progress and defend trade-offs to internal stakeholders, up to the Airbus Canada Executive Committee.

Dimensions and Impact of the Position

The position holder will make a decisive contribution to achieving one of the three main A220 priorities identified by the CEO of Airbus Canada to achieve customer satisfaction, namely improving the maturity of structural components.

The development budget allocated to improving the maturity of the aircraft structure is approximately $10M CAD per year for the next 3 years. The direction and decisions taken by the position holder will have a significant impact on customer satisfaction and the performance objectives of the A220 fleet.

Your Boarding Pass (Preferred Profile)

  • Education: Degree in aerospace engineering or equivalent.

  • Required experience: A minimum of 15 years of experience in engineering, including 3 to 5 years in airframe engineering.

  • Large-scale project management: Proven experience in leading major multidisciplinary projects transversally (influential leadership).

  • Customer orientation and values: Customer-oriented mindset, acting at all times with integrity, respect, and a strong sense of collaboration.
