The Service Manager - Operations - Airside is responsible for the successful planning, organization and management of aircraft services functions and operational safety. They ensure the daily operation and safety compliance of Jazz stations, ground service providers and other external providers for whom they are responsible. They work in close collaboration with Airport Security.

Safety First:

  • Ensure the elimination of safety and security risks, analyze root causes and take corrective action. Support station managers and frontline staff in their regions to ensure continuous application, monitoring and compliance with safety, security and service standards by conducting regular self-checks. If self-assessment or regulatory audit activities reveal weaknesses, analyze the root causes, take corrective action and adopt a method to assess effectiveness.
  • Assume responsibility for operational safety in the region. Supervise and support the implementation and verification of Air Canada's standardized operating procedures, and support the organization of periodic follow-up meetings led by station managers with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with IOSA and SMS standards, as well as those of other competent authorities.
  • Support the management team and ground service providers for activities relating to safety, security and customer service in the region.
  • Anticipate and identify safety, security, service and operational issues, and resolve them with the management security team, with an emphasis on safety.
  • Manage the daily activities of their station.
  • Work in close collaboration with the Airport Security team.
  • Ensure constant compliance, application and monitoring of occupational health and safety, security, safety and service standards, including the application of emergency response plans and environmental plans.
  • Assume responsibility for investigations.
  • Allocate material, human and financial resources to airport operations, and provide relevant policies allowing Air Canada to ensure the security and safety of operations.

Key functions and responsibilities

  • Plan, organize and manage aircraft services functions.
  • Ensure effective and timely management of the Aircraft Services team.
  • Anticipate and identify safety, security and operational issues, and resolve them with the management security team, with an emphasis on safety.
  • Communicate regularly with employees to keep them informed of new products, service and operational performance issues, and management objectives.
  • Manage processes to encourage employees to provide feedback to identify concerns.
  • Show recognition to employees who consistently provide excellent service.
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively and regularly with other departments and with suppliers, with a view to meeting service and operational requirements.
  • Demonstrate leadership for Aircraft Services, to ensure the implementation, maintenance and improvement of procedures and processes, with a view to achieving, or even exceeding, customer service performance levels and standards.
  • Lead Aircraft Services, provide guidance and motivate their team at the airport and ensure their development, by setting an example and assuming responsibility for all activities relating to Aircraft Services.
  • Design and execute the station safety plan for Aircraft Services and Baggage Services, and ensure compliance with the plan.
  • Demonstrate punctuality to support the overall success of the team in a fast-paced environment.
