The Manager, Line Maintenance - Western/Eastern United States is responsible for all maintenance activities in the assigned Western or Eastern U.S. region. The successful candidate will provide direction and supervision for the coordination and organization of line maintenance activities in their region. Duties include maintaining relationships with vendors as well as Air Canada personnel at stations and across the network to ensure efficient operations and achievement of objectives.
The incumbent will lead the business planning, policies, practices and guidance for various line maintenance stations in the United States and the Caribbean to ensure smooth execution of maintenance activities during scheduled ground time. They will provide leadership and direction to regional employees and vendors to deliver safe, serviceable aircraft that meet operational requirements and the high airworthiness standards of Transport Canada and Air Canada.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and implementation of business plans, policies, practices and guidance for Line Maintenance.
- Be accountable for a line maintenance regional budget of approximately $2 to $5 million (CAD).
- Coordinate and oversee maintenance activities required to deliver safe and serviceable aircraft that meet operational requirements and the airworthiness standards of Transport Canada and Air Canada.
- Ensure all vendors in the region comply with Air Canada standards and requirements.
- Prepare, manage and control operating results and costs against the regional budget.
- Maintain effective relationships with all vendors.
- Manage resources to meet assigned workloads and business timelines.
- Manage planning and oversight of night workload.
- Oversee shipping supervision for all stations in the region.
- Control part quotas and inventory for stations in the region.
- Manage audits and billing follow-up activities for regional stations.
- Manage and negotiate contract arrangements with vendors.
- Review and resolve maintenance delays on a daily basis, as required.
- Coordinate training and qualification of subcontractors.
- Act as liaison between vendors, Maintenance Operations Control and regional station management teams.
- Promptly inform Maintenance Operations Control of repair progress on aircraft.
- Ensure vendor contact information is kept up to date in company systems.
- Plan and conduct annual vendor audits at all regional stations.
- Support the Director, Maintenance Operations Control, as directed.
Qualifications
- Aircraft maintenance certificate from a recognized college or university is an asset. Aircraft Maintenance Technician licence or equivalent is also an asset.
- More than ten years' experience in airlines, maintenance, manufacturing or a related area.
- Knowledge of management methods, standards and regional international regulatory requirements.
- Proven leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage deadlines and projects.
- Demonstrated planning, organizing and budgeting skills.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Proficiency with computer applications (Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
- Punctuality and reliability to support overall team success in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong understanding of line maintenance audit procedures and requirements is an asset.
- Knowledge of ground services contracts is an asset.
