The A220 Commercial Aircraft Program is looking for an External Transport Lead to join our Material Control team based in Mirabel (Quebec, Canada), where you will work jointly with the Warehouse and Transport team, also under the Material Control department.

As Heaf of External Transport, you will orchestrate the operational management of incoming and outgoing shipments in strict compliance with international standards. You will also lead the strategy for North American road freight flows by optimizing pricing structures, leading key negotiations, and ensuring rigorous administrative follow-up.

Your Challenges:

  • Cost Optimization & Rate Negotiations: Maximize profitability by negotiating transport pricing structures and major contracts.
  • 3PL Partner Management & Performance: Select, negotiate with, and strictly monitor the overall performance of key carriers and third-party logistics providers.
  • Data Integrity & Systems Traceability: Accurately maintain logistics databases and ensure rigorous administrative tracking using IT tools.
  • High-Risk Strategic Project Management: Demonstrate a strong sense of urgency to manage multiple complex, high-impact financial projects simultaneously.
  • Executive Communication & Alignment: Effectively interact with and present strategic or contractual summaries up to the C-suite level.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration & Contracting: Interpret complex contractual terms and align logistics priorities between internal teams and external clients.

Your Profile:

  • Experience: Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in a similar position and/or in logistics (3PL).
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Transport Logistics or a related field (e.g., Supply Chain Management, Business Administration). An equivalent combination of education and directly relevant work experience will also be accepted.
  • Project Management: Ability to manage multiple high-financial-impact and/or high-complexity projects, sense of urgency, strong interpersonal skills, and team spirit.
  • Problem Solving & Decision Making: Strategic analysis capability, operational risk management, and fast decision-making in high-volume/high-urgency environments.
  • Project Steering & Operational Excellence: Process structuring, oversight of complex logistics projects, and deployment of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Team Leadership & Management: Demonstrated ability to engage, mentor, and develop cross-functional teams in a performance- and accountability-driven environment.
  • Budgetary Management & Cost Optimization: Rigorous development, tracking, and control of logistics and transport budgets; variance analysis and operational profitability optimization.

This position may involve business travel worldwide, including occasional travel to Mobile and Toulouse.

This position involves frequent business travel; as such, you must be able to travel accordingly. On-call duties during weekends and/or holiday periods may be required.
