The role is part of Air Canada's PRE-SAP product management group within the Digital Products team. The mandate is to advance SAP and Finance products.

Air Canada is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Product Lead to join the PRE Products team. The role will oversee both strategy and implementation of new and enhanced functionality for SAP group information communication, the SAP Interface (AIF) - Accounts Payable, order-to-cash processes, SAP S/4 Assets and SAP S/4 Treasury. The person must have experience creating high-level innovative PRE solutions, be customer- and data-focused, and be passionate about the travel industry. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment and follows a delivery model focused on continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Define, prioritize and manage the product roadmap for flight purchases and ancillary product purchases.
  • Support leadership to ensure the product roadmap aligns with the strategic digital program objectives.
  • Lead end-to-end implementation and support of SAP FI (Financial Accounting) and CO (Controlling) modules.
    • Configuration and support:
    • General Ledger (GL)
    • Accounts Payable (AP)
    • Accounts Receivable (AR)
    • Asset Accounting (AA)
    • Bank accounting
    • Cost center accounting
    • Profit center accounting
    • Product and internal order costing
  • Collaborate with solution managers, system architects and platform teams to ensure functional capabilities and requirements are met.
  • Analyze business requirements and design SAP financial solutions.
  • Prepare functional specifications for technical developments.
  • Provide strong expertise in SAP FI and CO modules.
  • Apply deep knowledge of financial processes and accounting principles.
  • Experience in SAP configuration and integration.
  • Analyze market trends, customer feedback and analytics to drive product evolution.
  • Manage and coach, directly or indirectly, a team of product owners.
  • Lead by influence to achieve results within cross-functional teams.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders and provide clear guidance to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Actively participate in organization-wide meetings to support acceptance of new requirements and provide initial gap assessments as needed.
  • Prepare presentations to communicate vision, roadmap, new features and product data to business stakeholders.
  • Understand regulatory and technology trends and assess their potential impacts to apply learnings at Air Canada.
  • Document requirements to support Product and Delivery teams.
  • Facilitate implementation and support of SAP Financials with emphasis on FI/CO control modules (cost center accounting, profit center accounting, product costing, profitability analysis, project management system, results analysis, open items, month-end close, accruals and allocation assessment).
  • Perform detailed analysis of complex methodology requirements and provide appropriate system solutions; identify, interpret, validate and document client requirements.
  • Facilitate workshops to gather business requirements.
  • Map client requirements, processes and business goals; develop necessary product changes to meet client needs.
  • Design, customize, configure and test FI/CO modules.
  • Identify gaps and issues and find solutions.
  • Liaise with clients for troubleshooting: investigate, analyze and resolve software issues.
  • Document functional designs, test cases and outcomes.
  • Proactively identify and recommend process or system improvements.
  • Provide advisory services for both new implementations and existing support projects.
  • Act as the liaison between business functions and the technical team.
  • Deliver ad hoc training and user support as required.
  • Work independently; may act as a subject-matter expert mentor to junior members.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and at least five years of experience as a systems analyst, product owner or product lead delivering complex SAP FI/CO products (at least five years of demonstrated experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree).
  • CPA certification is an asset.
  • A degree in finance is a plus.
  • Expertise in designing and deploying SAP FI/CO modules to support complex business logic.
  • Ability to provide clear direction and effective communication to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Understanding of SAP Clean Core principles, design guidelines and their application to financial processes.
  • Experience managing teams of product owners, systems analysts or product designers, directly or indirectly.
  • Ability to motivate employees in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Innovative mindset, creativity and ability to identify and develop business opportunities.
  • Strong management, organizational and communication skills.
  • Experience leading or participating in product discovery sessions.
  • Punctuality and reliability to support overall team success in a fast-paced setting.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum, SAFe); experience with scaled agile environments (SAFe) is an asset.
  • Experience in the travel or airline industry is an asset but not required.
