The person occupying the position of Product Manager - Crew Planning will be responsible for the vision, strategy, roadmap, and lifecycle management of digital products intended to support planners of Flight Operations and In-Flight Service.

They will work in close collaboration with operational stakeholders and teams in Engineering, Architecture, User Experience, and Analytics, as well as with vendor partners, to obtain business results by means of innovative digital solutions. This position combines product strategy, customer-centric design, data-driven decision making, and Agile delivery practices to improve planning efficiency, operational reliability, and the employee experience.

The incumbent defines and measures product success using key performance indicators, continually evaluates customer needs, and establishes investment priorities based on business value, user impact, and technical feasibility.

Continuous improvement, thoughtful integrations, the end-to-end digital experience for planners, and operational stability must constitute the foundations of this position.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the vision and roadmap of the digital product for crew planning at Air Canada.
  • Leverage user research and interpret data analytics to determine the overall product strategy, harmonizing it with business objectives and evaluating trade-offs related to technical feasibility.
  • Facilitate the Agile delivery cycle of products, from the discovery phase to product adaptation, through user stories, backlog management and prioritization, as well as sprint and release planning.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders, notably Crew Planning attendants, for both pilots and cabin personnel, to ensure a global and coordinated approach to product development.
  • Supervise the product lifecycle, making informed decisions on new features and product direction to support strategic goals.
  • Cultivate strong relations with cross-functional teams, notably IT, Design - UX and UI, Data Analytics, and Operations, to provide uniform and efficient digital products.
  • Foster a culture focused on innovation and continuous improvement, leveraging the Agile method and a sharp technical sense.
  • Keep abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to maintain a competitive advantage in the field of digital solutions for the Commercial Flight Crew - Operations team.
  • Collaborate with other Product teams to ensure the harmonization of respective product roadmaps, business objectives, user needs, and technical feasibility regarding product design and development. Match goals, objectives, and projects to provide better products to personnel.
  • Lead the product launch strategy, ensuring effective cross-functional communication and change management.
  • Prepare presentations and actively participate in meetings with company executives to communicate the roadmap, new features, and data.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., computer science, engineering, or business administration) or relevant experience in the airline industry or technology sector.
  • At least five years of relevant experience in product management or technology.
  • Experience in aviation products, notably Jeppesen applications, a major asset.
  • Strong flair for communication and collaboration, allowing effective interaction with technical and non-technical stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience with tools like JIRA, Confluence, and Figma and AI platforms like Claude, Cursor, and Copilot, an asset.
  • Acute sense of analysis and problem-solving, enabling data-driven decision-making and innovation.
  • Results-driven mindset and experience in successful product development and good business results.
  • Demonstrate punctuality and reliability to foster the overall success of the team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interest in learning and bringing added value to improve products, main competencies the candidate must possess.

Conditions of Employment:

Candidates must be eligible to work in the country concerned at the time an offer of employment is presented and are responsible for obtaining work permits, visas, or other necessary authorizations. Proof of eligibility must be provided before the start date.
