The incumbent will manage 80 people (through 3 supervisors and team leaders), both unionized and non-unionized employees, by exercising leadership in responsibility, supervision, and communication. He/she is able to establish an organizational structure to meet monthly objectives. He/she plans and implements detailed production plans to ensure on-time deliveries to internal and external clients. Supervises team leaders and a number of unionized employees. He/she also has complete management of his/her operational budget at the labor, direct and indirect costs, and equipment levels.
He/she holds product meetings with program and product managers and provides information on his/her Operations sector to business unit managers. He/she defines material cost and quality strategies for his/her products. The manufacturing manager acts as a change agent to improve his/her sector's indicators and achieve Operations' objectives.

Responsibilities:

• Respect manufacturing costs:
• Analyze financial reports
• Analyze manufacturing methods
• Analyze manufacturing defects (COPQ) and define and monitor corrective actions
• Improve processes used to meet profit margins and propose solutions.
• Manage workforce for his/her sector:
• Administer hiring requisitions
• Participate in the recruitment process for vacant positions
• Manage the performance management process for unionized employees and management staff (supervisors, Industrial Methods, PMC)
• Manage overtime
• Analyze execution times, modify them as needed
• Plan capacity at the human resources and equipment levels.
• Administer and apply collective agreements:
• Manage grievance settlements
• Participate in analyses of job descriptions
• Participate in preparatory meetings for collective bargaining.
• Develop training plans for all personnel:
• Analyze established training programs, modify them and develop new ones to meet growing flexibility needs
• Develop progress evaluation methods
• Maintain up-to-date skills matrices.
• Sales management and forecast maintenance for his/her sector:
• Establish forecasts and risks for these programs
• Participate in customer order review meetings
• Participate in delivery planning meetings
• Monitor material and ensure prompt action from the purchasing department, material reception, and incoming inspection
• Meet raw material and finished product inventory objectives:
• Comply with company guidelines for 60-day WIP management and other inventory reduction objectives
• Establish manufacturing plans to achieve rotation objectives
• Consolidate WIP and finished product inventory movements with the program manager.
• Ensure compliance with good manufacturing methods:
• Produce guidelines based on manufacturing plans
• Establish priorities and monitor Industrial Methods activities
• Hold information sessions to eliminate defects encountered during manufacturing
• Obtain engineering support as needed
• Validate existing processes.
• Productivity and Transformation:
• Develop new manufacturing processes by maximizing the Lean approach
• Use Industrial Methods to optimize his/her department while exercising the required leadership
• Establish key indicators (KPIs) for his/her sector and ensure their progress according to company objectives
• Participate in product line director meetings.
• Facilitate and participate in internal and external audits:
• Participate in meetings and visits
• Analyze issued reports
• Implement means to satisfy corrective action requests.
• Manage departmental budget:
• Monthly manage incurred expenses vs. budget and dictate guidelines to meet budgetary objectives
• Develop a manufacturing strategy and plan equipment capitalization projects
• Maximize equipment utilization
• Manage the equipment calibration process and implement means to ensure its monitoring.
• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety policies:
• Provide and maintain personal protective equipment and machinery
• Enforce safety instructions within his/her group
• Participate in Health & Safety meetings

Desired Profile

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or a relevant discipline / University degree in management is an asset
• A minimum of eight (8) years of experience in electronic manufacturing (PCB) in a multi-product environment
• A minimum of five (5) years of experience managing a multidisciplinary manufacturing team
• Strong experience in manufacturing in the aerospace and/or high-tech industry
• Experience in managing a multidisciplinary team for program management, engineering, and production
• Experience in a unionized environment
