Manufacturing Manager (Printed Circuit Boards)

The incumbent will ensure the management of 80 people (through 3 supervisors and team leads), including unionized and non-unionized employees, exercising leadership based on accountability, coaching, and communication. They are able to establish an organizational structure to meet monthly objectives. They plan and implement detailed production plans to ensure on-time deliveries to internal and external customers. Supervises team leads and a number of unionized employees. They also have complete management of their operational budget regarding workforce levels, direct and indirect costs, and equipment.

They hold product meetings with program and product leads and provide information on their Operations sector to business unit leads. They define material cost and quality strategies on their products. The Manufacturing Manager acts as a change agent to improve their sector's indicators and achieve Operations objectives.

Responsibilities:

• Respect manufacturing costs:
• Analyze financial reports
• Analyze manufacturing methods
• Analyze manufacturing defects (COPQ) and define and monitor corrective actions
• Improve processes used to meet profit margins and propose solutions.
• Manage the workforce for their sector:
• Administer hiring requisitions
• Participate in the recruitment process for vacant positions
• Manage the performance management process for unionized employees and management employees (supervisors, Industrial Methods, PMC)
• Manage overtime
• Analyze execution times, modify them as needed
• Plan capacity regarding human resources and equipment.
• Administer and apply collective agreements:
• Manage grievance settlements
• Participate in job description analyses
• Participate in preparatory meetings for agreement negotiations.
• Develop training plans for all personnel:
• Analyze established training programs, modify them and develop new ones to meet growing flexibility needs
• Develop progress evaluation methods
• Keep skills matrices up to date.
• Sales management and forecast maintenance for their sector:
• Establish forecasts and risks on these programs
• Participate in customer purchase order review meetings
• Participate in delivery planning meetings
• Track material and ensure prompt action from the purchasing department, material receiving, and incoming inspection
• Meet raw material and finished product inventory objectives:
• Respect company guidelines in 60-day WIP management and other inventory reduction objectives
• Establish manufacturing plans to achieve turnover objectives
• Consolidate WIP and finished product inventory movements with the program manager.
• Ensure compliance with good manufacturing methods:
• Produce guidelines based on manufacturing plans
• Establish priorities and track Industrial Methods activities
• Hold briefing sessions to eliminate defects encountered during manufacturing
• Obtain engineering support as needed
• Validate existing processes.
• Productivity and Transformation:
• Develop new manufacturing processes maximizing the Lean approach
• Use Industrial Methods to optimize their department while exercising required leadership
• Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for their sector and ensure progression according to company objectives
• Participate in product line director meetings.
• Facilitate and participate in internal and external audits:
• Participate in meetings and visits
• Analyze issued reports
• Implement means to satisfy corrective action requests.
• Manage departmental budget:
• Manage monthly incurred expenses vs budget and dictate guidelines to meet budgetary objectives
• Develop a manufacturing strategy and plan equipment capitalization projects
• Maximize equipment utilization
• Manage equipment calibration processes and implement means to ensure monitoring.
• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety policies:
• Provide and maintain personal protective and machinery equipment
• Enforce safety rules within their group
• Participate in Health & Safety meetings

Profile Sought

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or a relevant discipline / University degree in management is an asset
• A minimum of eight (8) years of experience in electronic manufacturing (PCB) in a multi-product environment
• A minimum of five (5) years of experience managing a multidisciplinary manufacturing team
• Solid experience in manufacturing in the aeronautics and/or high-tech industry
• Experience managing a multidisciplinary team for program management, engineering, and production
• Experience in a unionized environment
• Experience in continuous improvement, an asset
