The Role:

We’re on the hunt for a Senior Accountant at our Montreal office. The Senior Accountant works under the direction of the immediate supervisor, applies appropriate accounting procedures and controls, and performs in-depth analysis to ensure the accuracy of financial data. The candidate works independently with minimal coaching and supervision.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Support the Manager of Shared Services Finance in ensuring timely and accurate financial data and systems.
  • Review monthly and annual closings. Ensure that all entries recording the company’s business operations are processed in time for the preparation of the various ledgers.
  • Prepare consolidated balance sheets or income statements and related schedules and reports to illustrate the financial position of the company (and its subsidiaries) and its operations for any period of review.
  • Analyze the above reports, make comparisons, interpret and explain business trends, differences from budgets or prior years’ data for reasonability analysis.
  • Verify and monitor the overall accuracy of the various income statements and ensure that they are consistent with the Company’s books and established accounting policies.
  • Summarize the various service or product reports, calculate transaction elimination entries and interdepartmental reports for the entire company.
  • Analyze, reconcile, explain the various accounts or operations of the company and maintain & reconcile sub-ledgers.
  • Helps in the preparation of income tax returns by supporting the tax team.
  • Calculate the company’s foreign exchange position at any given time and maintain a detailed analysis of related accounts.
  • Develop or assist in the development and implementation of an automated system of ledgers, records and reports in accordance with the Company’s accounting policies and principles, or as required by applicable law.
  • Additional duties as required.

Job Required Qualifications:

  • Basic knowledge of IFRS.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel required.
  • Knowledge of a major ERP system (preferably Infor LN)
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, analytic skills, and attention to details.
  • Fast learner with experience in a fast-paced environment.
  • Analytical skills applied to various spreadsheets, relational database and presentation software packages.
  • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team in a time-sensitive environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in administrative sciences or equivalent.
  • Possess an accounting designation.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in general accounting, including 3 years of practical experience in the use of automated financial systems (personal computer and host processor).
  • Essential knowledge of French and English, spoken and written.
