Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the A220 cockpit design supervisor, the senior mechanical engineering designer's main mission is to ensure the performance of a team of 5-10 mechanical designers.
Your challenges:
- Ensure that the design of the primary structure, secondary structures, and system installations within its scope complies with technical and customer requirements, program needs, and manufacturing requirements
- Disseminate major technical input data within the design team, at its scope level (customer requirements, program requirements, boundary plans, list of standards, etc.)
- Coordinate and organize the various activities of your team
- Ensure that priorities are respected by the technical team under their responsibility
- Ensure that their team delivers all their deliverables within cost, quality, and time objectives
- Implement and monitor indicators used to demonstrate team performance (e.g., OTD, OQD, EVM)
- Prepare and provide a report on the progress and technical issues/risks under their responsibility
- Ensure the development of junior engineers through mentoring
- Organize and maintain good cohesion within the group
- Participate in the analysis and implementation of changes with the program, supply chain, production, and customers
- Validate the impact analyses of incorporating changes
- Ensure the technical interface with their counterpart at the client and the technical interface with suppliers
- Intervene and provide expertise to resolve part non-conformity problems and assembly line problems
- Provide visibility on the technical scope to their hierarchy and the program (technical summaries, technical progress status, identification of technical risks)
Your profile:
- Bachelor's/Master's (or equivalent) in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in aerostructure design
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and requirements related to the design and manufacture of primary structure, secondary structure, and system installations
- Knowledge of airworthiness requirements (TCCA, FAA, EASA) impacting aerostructure and system installations
- Knowledge of aeronautical design processes and methods (Airbus Atlantic, Bombardier, Airbus Canada Processes and Methods)
- Knowledge of configuration management rules
- Proficiency in CATIA and ENOVIA
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Knowledge of project management and change management
- Bilingual English / French (verbal and written)
