About the subject

As part of the industrialization of an aeronautical program in collaboration with our partner/client, the main role of the Designer is to ensure that the design of primary structures, secondary structures, and system integration within their scope complies with all technical requirements and applicable standards.

Operationally reporting to the Design Manager, they are notably responsible for:

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that the technical scope is well respected according to client requirements, program needs, and manufacturing requirements;
  • Participate in the design of primary structure, secondary structure, and system installations within their scope:
  • Make technical decisions related to primary structure design
  • Make technical decisions for fixed supports and mobile supports
  • Make technical decisions for all system installations assigned to them.
  • Make necessary technical decisions regarding the design, manufacturing, installation, and verification of parts and assemblies
  • Develop and verify test plans with laboratories. Verify test reports and analyze results
  • Prepare the main technical deliverables and ensure the conformity of technical deliverables according to Airbus Atlantic and client requirements (technical solutions, plan verification, qualification and certification reports, etc.);
  • Deliver parts plans and installation plans respecting delivery commitments in terms of time and quality to clients (internal and external).
  • Provide visibility on the technical scope to their hierarchy and to the program (technical summaries, technical progress status, identification of technical risks);
  • Participate in the analysis and implementation of changes with the program, supply chain, production, and clients;
  • Prepare impact analyses for change incorporation;
  • Ensure the technical interface with their counterpart at the client and the technical interface with suppliers;
  • Support the resolution of non-conformance issues for parts and assembly line problems
  • As part of a strategic project with our client, the designer will also have an integrator/project manager role with work carried out externally under subcontract. They will be responsible for:
  • Ensure the management of engineering development projects and ensure that stakeholders meet their commitments until project implementation. If necessary, propose a recovery plan
  • Prepare project planning and ensure planning maintenance, ensure close monitoring of costs, and produce progress reports.
  • Actively participate in governance and progress meetings.

Desired profile

  • Bachelor's/Master's (or equivalent) in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in aerostructure design.
  • Knowledge of primary metallic and composite structure design (an asset), secondary structure, and system installations
  • Knowledge of aeronautical design processes and methods (Airbus Atlantic, BOMBARDIER, AIRBUS Canada Processes and Methods)
  • Good proficiency in Catia V5 and Enovia
  • Experience in Design and manufacturing of sheet metal and machined parts
  • Experience in composite parts design and manufacturing would be an asset
  • Experience in MRB Design would be an asset
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and requirements related to primary and secondary structure manufacturing
  • Knowledge of configuration management rules
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in project management or as an integrator.
  • Knowledge/awareness of tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Possess good written and oral communication skills,
  • Bilingual English / French (verbal and written)
