What your day will look like
General responsibilities
The successful candidate will work from drawings, work methods, sketches or verbal instructions regarding the methods and equipment to use, to set up, operate and adjust numerically controlled robots for new engine parts or the repair of used or new parts. The role also includes:
- Performing dimensional and visual checks on parts using precision measuring instruments such as inspection gauges and maintaining appropriate records.
- Carrying out tasks on parts in the course of machining.
- Washing, preserving, packaging and moving parts while ensuring they meet part standards and specifications.
- Performing routine maintenance to ensure, among other things, adequate fluid levels, clean filters and that the general condition of the machine complies with the checklist.
- Participating in training and sharing knowledge with team members.
- Organizing and maintaining the workstation and upholding our high standards for health and safety at work.
Specific responsibilities
- Prepare surfaces, from the simplest to the most complex operations, to apply a wide variety of metallic or ceramic coatings.
- Adjust parts and equipment for applying protective coatings or rebuilding a surface based on complex drawings, sketches, CNC machine programs, manufacturing processes, specifications and other verbal or written instructions.
- Use cleaning, heat-treatment or other processes to remove contaminants.
- Visually inspect surfaces to be rebuilt to ensure they are clean.
- Prepare surfaces by abrasive methods.
- Mount, install, adjust, stabilize and balance the part on the rotary table or other required support for metallization.
- Set up, operate and adjust plasma vaporization machines to ensure equipment condition and compliance with specifications and coating application schedules.
- May be required to modify programming parameters.
- Apply maintenance procedures such as torch alignment, leak detection, injector adjustment and inspection. Metallize samples for certain processes or qualifications that require laboratory verification.
- Carry out deburring work such as removing excess coating and correcting application defects.
- Occasionally perform rework and touch-ups as necessary; perform dimensional and visual checks during repair as indicated or required using different types of precision measuring instruments and inspection gauges.
- Maintain appropriate records of various parameters to establish efficient and stable operations with statistical process control.
- May participate in the development of new parts or processes to choose methods or tools.
- May be required to operate multiple nearby machines simultaneously.
What you need to succeed
- Diploma (DEP) in machining techniques with CNC ASP or other relevant training.
- Ability to work in a team while demonstrating good autonomy.
- Interest in mechanics.
- Manual dexterity.
- Analytical mindset.
- This position is within a French-speaking work environment; however, a basic knowledge of English is required to understand some specialized work instructions, drawings and technical terms that may originate from international organizations.
