Air Canada is seeking a highly motivated, dynamic and ambitious individual who wishes to learn and advance their career within the Company. The person in the Finance Advisor role represents the Finance function and collaborates with the team that supports the finances of Air Canada Maintenance.

Air Canada Maintenance represents one of the Company's key financial strengths.

Main responsibilities

  • Provide value-added services to the stock planning business units of Air Canada Maintenance by identifying and assessing opportunities and strategies to improve profitability, internal process changes and new cost-reduction opportunities.
  • Establish and manage effective working relationships with business leaders and strategic partners, and ensure adoption of solutions and changes to inventory processes and strategies.
  • Manage financial transactions in our monitoring and evaluation system (TRAX): provide guidance on the accounting impact of departmental transactions and collaborate with the Finance and Audits team to report, identify and assess financial inaccuracies.
  • Manage balance sheet transactions and understand cost flows. Collaborate with YWG teams, Accounts Payable, Audits and business finance agents to raise the team's awareness of essential accounting principles to support the business and enable informed financial decisions.
  • Support capital budget initiatives for all Air Canada Maintenance business units. Provide timely and accurate reporting and support all related financial activities.
  • Collaborate with Finance - YWG to ensure all aspects of inventory are aligned with accounting and centralized services directions.
  • Lead the development and implementation of financial performance indicators to better understand cause-and-effect relationships between different costs and to ensure unit efficiency and performance.
  • Lead, in collaboration with Air Canada Maintenance management, process improvement initiatives that provide financial control, improved understanding and decision-making related to inventory and other financial processes.
  • Ensure service quality remains high at all times in terms of timeliness and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with the Power BI team to update and improve inventory dashboards.
  • Work with the Senior Manager – Finance Business Partner to document new processes or updates to Air Canada's UNIFIER program processes.
  • Perform other ad hoc financial analyses and support project management.

Qualifications

  • Three to five years of relevant experience.
  • Undergraduate degree in business, accounting or finance is required.
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation or other professional designation is an asset.
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills to examine complex data and report findings.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with demonstrated ability to work in a team.
  • Self-directed, energetic, with strong initiative and creativity.
  • Ability to quickly become familiar with various financial systems.
  • Proven organizational skills and ability to work under pressure and meet changing deadlines.
  • Ability to build and maintain advanced financial models in Microsoft Excel; intermediate to advanced knowledge of PowerPoint and Power BI.
  • Experience with Alteryx is an asset.
  • Experience with supply chain in the airline industry is an asset.
  • Experience with the TRAX system is an asset.
  • Demonstrated punctuality and reliability to support overall team success in a fast-paced environment.

Conditions of employment
