We are looking for a highly motivated, dynamic and ambitious individual who wishes to learn and advance their career at Air Canada. The Advisor – Finance will work in collaboration with the TDS and Corporate Affairs departments to support the achievement of business objectives and the constant pursuit of sustainable profitability for the airline. They will report to the Senior Manager – Finance – Operational Excellence – Corporate Affairs, TDS and Finance.
Main Responsibilities
- Provide support in the monthly financial closing process and expected results related to information disclosure. Assist other team members as needed when workload increases.
- Assist clients in all financial aspects of the management control process (i.e.: accruals and month-end adjustments, journal entries in SAP, budgeting and forecasting process).
- Build good relationships with TDS and Corporate Affairs departments to “be part of the team,” effectively balancing financial control, consulting, and support functions.
- Play an advisory role to business unit leaders in developing strategies and initiatives to achieve or exceed the unit’s financial objectives, including revenue growth and cost reduction initiatives.
- Monitor monthly operating expenses and produce monthly and ad hoc reports to improve expense and budget management.
- Participate in and support the analysis of the business unit’s financial performance.
- Conduct cost and value comparisons for new projects, contracts, and business case analyses using internal and external data to continuously improve the business unit’s financial performance.
- Assist with ad hoc tasks related to other SAP functionalities.
- Participate in the monitoring and reporting of capital projects, as needed.
- Ensure a high and consistent degree of quality in services provided in terms of speed of execution, accuracy, and user-friendliness.
Qualifications
- Undergraduate university degree in finance, accounting or another relevant field.
- Three to five years of experience.
- Professional Accountant designation (CPA) an asset.
- Autonomy, dynamism, strong initiative, and creativity.
- Flexibility and willingness to become familiar with a new Finance enterprise resource planning system.
- Strong analytical mind.
- Knowledge of financial analysis techniques and the accounting cycle.
- Knowledge of or experience in the operation of a company or airline, an asset.
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel and ability to learn to use financial applications and software.
- Results-oriented attitude with good organizational skills and ability to work under pressure.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.
- Proven punctuality and reliability to promote overall team success in a fast-paced environment.
