Position description

Reporting to the Director, Regulatory Compliance and PRM, the Airworthiness Controller will be responsible for maintenance activities from a regulatory compliance perspective.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with the Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs) for work performed through evaluation of personnel, processes and MCM/MPM.
  • Make quality-related decisions, without prejudice to business units, focusing on quality that could affect production performance or personnel certification privileges.
  • Functions include, but are not limited to:
    • Investigation;
    • Inspection of quality assurance activities to ensure they comply with regulatory standards and Air Transat policies;
    • Compliance with documented processes;
  • Assist in resolving differing opinions related to the airworthiness of aeronautical products.
  • Respond to Transport Canada non-conformity reports (ACTC).
  • Assist maintenance and inspection in performing their roles and support them in resolving quality issues.
  • MPM, MCM corrections and company manual:
    • Participate in assigned audits and follow-ups for their respective divisions;
    • Investigate ACTC non-conformities and establish root causes;
    • Guide and coach business units and auditors to respond to audit non-conformities;
    • Manage, amend and update company manuals in response to change requests;
    • Keep the production unit informed of new rules, regulations and procedures by supporting the production management team on quality issues;
    • Investigate and resolve immediate quality issues.

Qualifications

  • Diploma in aircraft maintenance.
  • Aircraft Maintenance Technician licence.
  • Minimum 5 years of quality experience in an airline or aircraft maintenance organization.
  • Good knowledge of basic software (Excel, Word, etc.).
  • Detail-oriented and autonomous person who excels at teamwork.
  • Bilingual (French and English) orally and in writing*.

*A good command of French is required for positions in Quebec. The incumbent will need to communicate frequently in English, orally and in writing, with colleagues, customers or other stakeholders, both in Quebec and internationally.
