Position Summary
We have a current vacancy to join our team in Victoria, BC. The successful candidate will work closely with the HSE Manager of Canada and the Coastal Operations Manager to ensure all HSE standards are met and recorded in the appropriate systems to ensure ISO compliance. This role will also perform day-to-day facilities operations and support local oversight of the Integrated Facility Management (IFM) Program across multiple sites supporting both the AJISS and MWAV contracts, with minimal supervision.
Essential Functions
Health, Safety and Environment
- The role has local responsibility for maintaining the HSE Management System and its supporting tools, processes and required employee competencies (role profiles & skill requirements).
- Assist in achieving corporate HSE targets and objectives.
- Contribute to ISO audit preparation and execution (evidence gathering, preparatory walk-throughs, etc.).
- Support document generation and control of site HSE documents in Chorus and SharePoint and work with Quality for control and compliance.
- Assist with internal and external audits and prepare the facility for certifications.
- Support the Joint Health and Safety Committee.
- Report and investigate accidents/incidents and facilitate form completion.
- Liaise with external services as needed to ensure HSE compliance.
- Create, monitor and resolve action items.
- Maintain databases such as the site legal register and SharePoint repository.
- Coordinate HSE training for staff through local third-party providers and/or Thales internal online training.
- May be required to facilitate HSE training onsite (e.g. safe ladder use, manual lifting techniques, chemical safety).
- Provide training programs to fire wardens, first aid responders and Joint Health & Safety Committees as required by law.
- Maintain a training matrix for HSE and ensure documented records are kept.
Facilities
- Oversee and collaborate with the company's third-party Facility Management Services provider to ensure facilities are maintained and operational.
- Provide support to ensure continuous facility operation and preventive maintenance is performed.
- Report on service quality to the Site Manager in accordance with the budget.
- Have a general understanding of facility equipment critical to operations.
- Assist in coordinating renovations/improvements, including obtaining quotes and facilitating implementation.
- Ensure the facility meets appropriate security guidelines set by the Industrial Security Directorate (ISD).
Flexibility in hours; occasional on-call after hours may be required.
Minimum Requirements
Skills and Abilities
- 2–5 years' experience with safety management systems; facilities management background considered an asset.
- Strong skills in MS Office platforms.
Education
- Certificate in health, safety and environmental field preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- HSE training: ISO 14001, ISO 45001.
- Joint Health and Safety Committee Certification.
- First Aid/CPR considered an asset.
Physical Demands
- Office/warehouse environment.
- Ability to work on a computer for long periods.
- Occasional standing and walking up to 2 hours daily.
- Occasionally lift/move up to 10 pounds and rarely up to 50 pounds.
The reference Total Target Compensation (TTC) market range for this position, inclusive of annual base salary and the variable compensation target, is between Total Target Cash (TTC) 75,000.00 - 95,000.00 CAD Annual. This range is a guide and placement within it depends on factors such as experience, skills and company budgets. Additional benefits or compensation may be offered depending on circumstances not related to protected characteristics.
