Our manufacturing engineering department is currently seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Coordinator. The primary mandate of this role is to act as an expert in operational excellence and continuous improvement for our plant.

This person will play a leading role in achieving the organization's strategic objectives and will work under the supervision of, and in collaboration with, the Strategic Project Manager.

Main responsibilities

  • Coordinate various mandates with multidisciplinary teams in line with the organization's strategic plan objectives and KPIs.
  • Carry out Lean Manufacturing projects, VSM, operation balancing, workstation layout, acquisition and implementation of new equipment, OHS and ergonomics issues, etc.
  • Identify, analyze, propose and implement innovative solutions for manufacturing processes to eliminate health and safety issues, increase added value and reduce costs.
  • Prepare and lead KAIZEN workshops aimed at continuous process improvement, optimizing operational performance and reducing waste.
  • Monitor technological developments and participate in the evaluation of new equipment and technological solutions aimed at automating and optimizing certain plant processes.
  • Contribute to the strategy and development of assembly sequences and methods, standard times and operation balancing with a vision of operational excellence.
  • Resolve various issues, make decisions aligned with the organization's vision and priorities, and provide necessary support to optimize productivity within the company.
  • Design and optimize workstation layouts, work methods and tooling by implementing value-added production initiatives in collaboration with various departments.
  • Participate in production ramp-up activities as part of the product development process in co-creation mode with departmental experts (engineering, production, processes, industrialization, quality, logistics & procurement).

Profile

  • College or university degree in industrial or mechanical engineering or equivalent experience.
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing tools and concepts, waste, VSM, VA/NVA studies, Kaizen methodology, DMAIC, etc.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously according to priorities.
  • Effective management of project plans and schedules using Gantt charts.
  • Recognized ability to collaborate with all members of the organization, mobilize teams and communicate effectively.
  • Strong root cause analysis, problem solving and information synthesis skills.
  • Knowledge of and interest in Industry 4.0, including automation, robotics and integration of new industrial technologies.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office tools.
  • Asset: Bilingualism (English and French) spoken and written.
  • Asset: Practical knowledge of 2D and 3D drawing software.
  • Asset: Knowledge of occupational health and safety.
