ROLE OVERVIEW
The incumbent is responsible for ensuring the smooth daily operation of the food service, including meal preparation, inventory management, and grocery supply. They ensure the quality of service provided to employees, compliance with hygiene, health and safety standards, as well as the proper maintenance of the premises and equipment. Through their professionalism and organizational skills, they contribute to creating an efficient, safe, and welcoming work environment, while supporting the team according to operational needs.
THE ROLE IN DEPTH
- Ensure inventory management and supply of groceries (food, dietary needs, maintenance needs);
- Ensure verification, rotation and storage of merchandise and limit losses;
- Cook meals during service hours for employees;
- Ensure customer and service satisfaction;
- Ensure proper maintenance of kitchen premises and equipment;
- Know, apply and enforce applicable regulations (WHMIS, MAPAQ, CNESST);
- Support and guide less experienced employees assigned to the work team;
- Serve meals with courtesy and professionalism; Comply with food specifications;
- Perform all other tasks required by the company.
- Support the team and department according to operational needs.
WHAT SETS YOU APART
- Secondary 4 or equivalent experience;
- Vocational diploma (DEP) in cooking or equivalent;
- Minimum of 2 to 3 years relevant kitchen experience;
- Training as a food handler or hygiene manager (MAPAQ), an asset;
- Functional bilingualism French/English, Inuktituk an asset;
- Ability to prepare a variety of meals for 20 to 50 people;
- Punctual, autonomous, organized and reliable;
- Willing to work atypical hours;
- Able to accept and adapt to unforeseen circumstances;
- Good interpersonal skills;
- The candidate will be considered as having no specific background and will travel throughout Nunavik;
- Be able to lift heavy loads (maximum 50 lbs) occasionally;
- Current driver's license.
COMPENSATION
- Salary and benefits are determined according to company policy.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Rotational position – 3 weeks of work followed by 3 weeks off.
- If the position cannot be filled locally, airfare from Montreal, room and board is included.
