The Senior Composite Designer will be responsible for the design, development, and drafting of composite parts and assemblies, working closely with engineering, manufacturing, methods, and quality teams.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform 3D modeling and 2D drawing creation for composite parts, components, and assemblies.
- Develop design solutions while considering manufacturing, assembly, maintenance, and aerospace certification requirements.
- Create, modify, and update CAD models based on customer requirements, engineering data, and technical specifications.
- Prepare definition drawings, technical documentation, and manufacturing data required for production.
- Contribute to the definition of laminates, thicknesses, ply orientations, inserts, reinforcements, and assembly interfaces, in collaboration with composite engineers.
- Implement required design changes following analyses, testing, non-conformities, or production feedback.
- Ensure that design solutions comply with applicable aerospace industry standards, specifications, and requirements.
- Work closely with stress, materials/composites, methods, manufacturing, and quality teams.
- Participate in design reviews and provide technical expertise on issues related to composite parts and structures.
- Investigate production-related issues and recommend design improvements aimed at optimizing manufacturability, quality, and costs.
- Maintain and update technical data and documentation within configuration management systems.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of design standards and development processes.
YOUR PROFILE IS ESSENTIAL TO OUR SUCCESS
- Technical education in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Design, or Aerospace Engineering.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience designing composite parts or structures, ideally within the aerospace industry.
- Excellent proficiency in CAD software, particularly CATIA or SOLIDWORKS.
- Strong understanding of composite materials and their behavior in the context of design.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, technical specifications, and engineering requirements.
- Experience working in design environments subject to configuration management, traceability, and aerospace certification requirements.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and rigor.
- Experience in mentoring, coaching, or providing technical support to junior designers is an asset.
