Embedded Systems Developer

Montreal, QC (On-Site) Full Time

Job Summary

Working as a Senior Embedded Systems Developer at Thales Digital Solutions, you will be paired with a dynamic, growing team of engineers and scientists with a wide variety of knowledge and skills. Our team specializes in building multi-agent autonomous drone systems.

Our mandate is to build multi-agent autonomous systems embedded on platforms of all kinds, aerial, floating, or underwater. We therefore ensure the protection of our clients' critical infrastructure and the protection of Canadian territory. We therefore have a concrete and very real impact on the security of these critical systems.

As an embedded systems developer at Thales Digital Solutions:

  • As an embedded systems developer, you will have the responsibility to develop, test and deliver software that can be deployed on embedded systems or used to communicate with embedded systems in collaboration with clients;
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary, dynamic and growing teams that specialize in the creation of intelligent agents and an embedded intelligent agent framework;
  • As an embedded systems developer, you will have a concrete impact on our ability to deploy AI-based algorithms on "Low SWAP" platforms.

Essential Functions

  • Perform functional and performance tests in simulated environments and during field trials;
  • Document and effectively communicate the results of the tests performed;
  • Develop tools to communicate with or analyze the behavior of embedded systems;
  • Participate in the smooth running of activities within an Agile team (Sprint Planning, Daily Meeting, Sprint Review and Sprint Retrospective);
  • Perform all of these tasks in compliance with team best practices.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science (or higher) in information technology or any other related and relevant field;
  • The candidate should have at least 5 years of relevant experience;
  • Very good knowledge of C++
  • Very good knowledge of executing code in a real-time environment
  • Very good knowledge of Linux
  • Good knowledge of Python and its ecosystem
  • Very good understanding of the challenges associated with deploying artificial intelligence on robotic platforms
  • Good knowledge of ROS2 or an equivalent framework
  • Good command of spoken and written French.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience in IoT and multi-agent systems is an asset;
  • Knowledge of Rust is an asset;
  • Experience in Data storage (SQL, NoSQL and others);
  • Having intellectual curiosity, the desire to learn and diversify is essential;
  • Having aptitudes for teamwork, listening and fostering collective intelligence is essential.
  • Experience with Agile development methods (scrum,...)
  • A keen sense of code quality and good programming and architecture practices is desired;
  • Experience with Agile development methods (Scrum, Kanban) is an asset;
  • An interest in embedded systems;
  • Intellectual curiosity, the taste for learning and diversification;
  • Aptitudes for teamwork and promoting collective intelligence;
  • A good sense of professional ethics is essential.
  • Good command of spoken and written English

This position requires a good knowledge of English for writing technical documents, to interact, support and/or provide services to international clients, employees and/or partners as well as foreign government authorities who do not speak French.
