Job Summary
Working as a senior embedded systems developer at Thales Digital Solutions, you will be paired with a dynamic and growing team of engineers and scientists with a wide range of knowledge and skills. Our team specializes in building autonomous multi-agent drone systems.
Our mandate is to build autonomous multi-agent systems embedded on platforms of all kinds: aerial drones, floating drones or underwater drones. We therefore ensure the protection of our customers' critical infrastructures and the protection of Canadian territory. We therefore have a concrete and very real impact on the security of these critical systems.
As an embedded systems developer at Thales Digital Solutions:
- As an embedded systems developer, you will be responsible for developing, testing and delivering software that can be deployed on embedded systems or that allows communication with embedded systems in collaboration with customers;
- Work closely with dynamic, growing, multidisciplinary teams specializing in creating intelligent agents and an embedded intelligent agent framework;
- As an embedded systems developer, you will have a concrete impact on our ability to deploy AI-based algorithms on “Low SWAP” platforms.
Essential Functions
- Perform functional and performance tests in simulated environments and during field trials;
- Document and effectively communicate the results of tests performed;
- Develop tools to communicate with or analyze the behavior of embedded systems;
- Participate in the smooth running of activities within an Agile team (Sprint Planning, Daily Meeting, Sprint Review and Sprint Retrospective);
- Perform all these tasks in compliance with the team's best practices.
Minimum requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science (or higher) in information technology or any other related and relevant field;
- The candidate should have at least 5 years of relevant experience;
- Very good knowledge of C++
- Very good knowledge in executing code in a real-time environment
- Very good knowledge of Linux
- Good knowledge of Python and its ecosystem
- Very good understanding of the challenges related to deploying artificial intelligence on robotic platforms
- Good knowledge of ROS2 or an equivalent framework
- Good command of spoken and written French.
Desirable Qualification
- Experience in IOT, and multi-agent systems is an asset;
- Knowledge of Rust is an asset;
- Experience in Data storage (SQL, NoSQL and others);
- Intellectual curiosity, a taste for learning and diversifying is essential;
- Having teamwork skills, listening skills and promoting collective intelligence is essential.
- Have experience with Agile development methods (scrum,...)
- A keen sense of code quality and good programming and architecture practices is desired;
- Having experience with Agile development methods (Scrum, Kanban) is an asset;
- Have an interest in embedded systems;
- Have intellectual curiosity, a taste for learning and diversifying;
- Have teamwork skills and promote collective intelligence;
- Having a good sense of professional ethics is essential.
- Good command of spoken and written English
This position requires good knowledge of English for writing technical documents, to interact, support and/or provide services to international clients, employees and/or partners as well as to foreign government authorities who do not speak French.
