Job Summary
Working as a senior embedded systems developer at Thales Digital Solutions, you will be paired with a dynamic and growing team composed of engineers and scientists with highly diverse knowledge and skills. Our team specializes in building multi-agent autonomous drone systems.
Our mandate is to build multi-agent autonomous systems embedded on platforms of all kinds, aerial, floating, or subsurface drones. We therefore ensure the protection of our clients' critical infrastructure and protect Canadian territory. We therefore have a concrete and very real impact on the security of these critical systems.
As an embedded systems developer at Thales Digital Solutions:
- As an embedded systems developer, you will be responsible for developing, testing, and delivering software that can be deployed on embedded systems or allowing communication with embedded systems in collaboration with clients;
- Work in close collaboration with multidisciplinary, dynamic, and growing teams that specialize in the creation of intelligent agents and an embedded intelligent agent framework;
- As an embedded systems developer, you will have a concrete impact on our capacity to deploy AI-based algorithms on "Low SWAP" platforms.
Essential Functions
- Perform functional and performance tests in simulated environments and during field trials;
- Document and effectively communicate the results of tests performed;
- Develop tools allowing communication with or analysis of the behavior of embedded systems;
- Participate in the smooth running of activities within an Agile team (Sprint Planning, Daily Meeting, Sprint Review, and Sprint Retrospective);
- Perform all of these tasks in compliance with the team's best practices.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science (or higher) in information technology or any other related and relevant field;
- The candidate should have at least 5 years of relevant experience;
- Very good knowledge of C++;
- Very good knowledge in code execution in a real-time environment;
- Very good knowledge of Linux;
- Good knowledge of Python and its ecosystem;
- Very good understanding of the challenges related to the deployment of artificial intelligence on robotic platforms;
- Good knowledge of ROS2 or an equivalent framework;
- Good command of spoken and written French.
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience in IoT and multi-agent systems is an asset;
- Knowledge of Rust is an asset;
- Experience in Data storage (SQL, NoSQL, and others);
- Having intellectual curiosity, the taste to learn and diversify is essential;
- Having aptitudes for teamwork, listening, and fostering collective intelligence is essential;
- Having experience with Agile development methods (scrum, ...);
- A keen sense of code quality and good programming and architecture practices is desired;
- Having experience with Agile development methods (Scrum, Kanban) is an asset;
- Having an interest in embedded systems;
- Having intellectual curiosity, the taste to learn and diversify;
- Having aptitudes for teamwork and fostering collective intelligence;
- Having a good sense of professional ethics is essential;
- Good command of spoken and written English.
This position requires a good knowledge of English for drafting technical documents, interacting, supporting, and/or providing services to international clients, employees, and/or partners as well as foreign government authorities who do not speak French.
