As the Director of Business Expansion at Rheinmetall Canada, your primary challenge will be to generate significant order volume from strategic opportunities in Canada and internationally. You will lead the development and positioning of Rheinmetall Canada's capabilities in air defence and surveillance markets, from the decision to bid through to contract award.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Secure significant orders from strategic opportunities in Canada and internationally.
  • Support the development and positioning of capabilities to win market share in defence and other strategic markets.
  • Develop and implement major opportunity/strategy plans as well as prospecting and follow-up plans.
  • Prepare innovative proposals and deliver strategic presentations to senior management.
  • Lead complex pursuit and capture teams, developing key arguments and strategies as a team to win opportunities.
  • Ensure Rheinmetall Canada is strategically positioned with all levels of government.
  • Stay continuously informed of competing offers in the market and new technologies.
  • Communicate and implement the capture management plan, including pricing, competitive analysis and design-to-cost, and lead a large multidisciplinary team of resources according to the plan.

Qualifications we are seeking:

  • Degree in engineering and an MBA, or an equivalent qualification.
  • At least 10 years of experience in the defence and security sector.
  • Experience or solid knowledge of the Canadian government procurement mechanisms.
  • Experience in strategic and tactical planning, and in delivering large-scale projects worth multiple millions of dollars.
  • Strong skills in strategic partnerships, collaboration agreements and subcontractor positioning.
  • Strong commercial acumen combined with balanced negotiation skills.
  • Solid financial skills in estimating, cost consolidation and proactive risk management.
  • Ambitious, motivated, positive and dynamic, with excellent influencing abilities.
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written); French proficiency would be an asset.

  • Shipley Capture Management certification.
