We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join Pratt & Whitney as Associate Director, Global Trade – DT/GT & Automated Export Control Systems (AECS).

This is a strategic leadership role at the intersection of global trade, digital technology (DT), and business transformation. The successful candidate will help shape how global trade (GT) requirements are designed, integrated, and automated within a complex and highly regulated global enterprise.

This role is for a global trade leader who wants to go beyond traditional compliance and help design the technologies, processes, and controls that will enable the next generation of automated global trade compliance.

The position is full-time, Monday through Friday, with flexible hours in Longueuil or Mississauga and is performed exclusively on-site.

What Will Your Daily Routine Look Like?

Reporting to the Director, Global Trade, DT/GT and Automated Export Control Systems (AECS), you will be responsible for:

• Leading the integration of global trade requirements into the company's digital environment, ensuring that GT requirements are integrated early in digital strategies, projects, applications, and technology solutions rather than treated as an afterthought for Pratt & Whitney and all its global sites.
• Acting as a senior global trade advisor for IT and business transformation initiatives, with substantial and general knowledge of key global trade areas (jurisdiction and classification, authorizations and licenses, tangible transfers - import and export, intangible transfers, sanctions, and verification).
• Working with limited support from specialists in the relevant functional areas.
• Translating global trade requirements into clear business and technology requirements, and being able to explain, defend, and challenge them with confidence with Global Trade (GT) teams, Digital Technology (DT) teams, business leaders, project teams, and senior executives.
• Evaluating and challenging technology and business initiatives when project priorities, global trade requirements, compliance risks, or business objectives are not aligned; formulating clear recommendations and driving issues to resolution.
• Leading the evolution of Automated Export Control Systems (AECS), defining future capabilities and advancing scalable approaches to automation, data-driven controls, and attribute-based access control (ABAC).
• Establishing the Global Trade governance and engagement model for technology initiatives, ensuring that GT is involved at the appropriate stage of the project lifecycle and that requirements are integrated into architecture, processes, master data systems, and controls.
• Evaluating and strengthening the Global Trade control environment in digital tools and processes, identifying capability gaps, emerging risks, and opportunities to improve automation, scalability, and operational efficiency.
• Influencing Global Trade initiatives across the company and RTX, ensuring business requirements and risks are understood while promoting harmonization with corporate strategies and standards.
• Providing strategic leadership and portfolio-wide visibility, bringing clarity to complex issues, highlighting risks and interdependencies, and enabling senior leadership to make informed decisions.
• Establishing strong relationships and exercising leadership through influence across Global Trade, IT, and business functions, removing obstacles and fostering alignment within a global matrix organization.
• Challenging the status quo and proactively identifying opportunities to improve how global trade compliance is ensured through technology, processes, and data.
• Being available to travel between different company sites as project needs dictate. Travel approximately 10% of the time.

What Do You Need to Succeed?

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and a minimum of 12 years of experience in global trade, export compliance, global trade technologies, or a related field, including experience with export control and sanction requirements; OR a graduate degree and 10 or more years of relevant experience.
• Substantial knowledge of global trade requirements, particularly regarding jurisdiction and classification, authorizations, tangible and intangible transfers, as well as sanctions and verification.
• Demonstrated ability to apply global trade requirements to complex business and technology environments, and to explain, defend, and challenge these requirements with senior-level stakeholders.
• Experience with automated trade compliance systems and digital technologies, such as ERP/GTS platforms, classification solutions, screening platforms, data governance, access control solutions, or similar technologies.
• Experience in a highly regulated industry or complex global environment, notably in aerospace and defense, advanced manufacturing, automotive, semiconductors, energy, life sciences, technology, or a similar sector.
• Experience within or in close collaboration with an IT organization, with an understanding of enterprise architecture, application development, data, access controls, and technology delivery processes.
• Excellent strategic and analytical thinking skills, with the ability to understand complex problems, identify real risks, and translate them into clear business and technology decisions.
• Strong leadership and influencing skills, particularly in a global matrix organization bringing together Global Trade, Digital Technology, business functions, and corporate stakeholders.
• A strong sense of ownership and urgency, with the ability to manage competing priorities, escalate risks, and drive issues to resolution.
• This position is in a French-speaking work environment; nevertheless, it requires a very good knowledge of English to read and understand daily documentation and technical terms emanating from international organizations, as well as to write and communicate in English with international clients, suppliers, or colleagues.
